A steering column includes an adjusting unit that is fixedly clampable releasably to a supporting unit and in which a steering spindle is mounted rotatably about a longitudinal axis, a clamping device with a release position and a fixing position for locking the adjusting unit to the supporting unit, a clamping bolt arranged along a clamping axis and guided transversely with respect to the longitudinal axis through an elongated hole in the supporting unit extending in an adjustment direction and in which the clamping bolt in the release position is movable. A fixing element on the clamping bolt can be braced by the clamping device in the direction of the clamping axis against the supporting unit. A guide device may have guide elements on the fixing element and on the supporting unit that are spaced apart from the elongated hole, the fixing element being guided in the guide elements in a translational manner relative to the supporting unit.

Steering column for a motor vehicle

A steering column includes a steering spindle rotatably mounted in an inner casing tube, which is disposed in an outer casing unit, and a clamping device that selectively secures the outer casing unit in a longitudinal direction. The clamping device includes a locking element, which in a fixing position is non-displaceably connected to an engagement part connected to the inner casing tube, which in a release position is released from the engagement part and permits movement of the inner casing tube relative to the outer casing unit. The inner casing tube and the outer casing unit are coupled by an energy absorption device. The engagement part includes a first driver element and a connecting part with a second driver element. The engagement part and the connecting part are connected to each other in the longitudinal direction via the coupling device in a releasable manner.

A height-adjustable steering column for motor vehicles may include an outer sleeve that receives a steering spindle and is connected to an actuating unit. The actuating unit can be mounted pivotably by way of two pivot bearings on a retaining unit, which can be fixedly connected to a vehicle chassis. The two pivot bearings may be disposed at a horizontal distance to one another on a pivot axis and may each comprise a dihedron projection and a recess that engages with the dihedron projection. Each recess may comprise an introduction region for introduction of the respective dihedron projection in a radial direction with respect to the pivot axis. An inner span of the introduction region may correspond to a smaller outer diameter of the dihedron projection and may form a transition into a partially circular bearing region, an inner diameter of which may be adapted to a larger outer diameter of the dihedron projection so that the dihedron projection is mounted pivotably in the bearing region after a rotation about the pivot axis by approximately 90&#xb0;.
