An expandable spinal implant is provided having a frame with a distal wall for retaining an expansion plug such that bone growth promoting material may be introduced to a proximal portion of the implant after expansion. Various implants, systems and methods are disclosed.

Expandable spinal implant system and method

An expandable spinal implant includes a distal projection extending from only one side of the implant, ending in an anterior tip, the anterior portion and anterior tip defining an elongated distal end hook, which is wider than the proximal end. The distal end hook rotates around the spinal cord, aligning the implant with a desired pathway, then inserts into place in the disc space between the vertebrae. The elongated widened distal end hook provides a TLIF approach, distributes loads, provides anterior rim engagement, and creates lordosis.

Expandable spinal implant system and method of using same

A retention system includes a first member having an inner surface defining a first thread form. The first thread form includes a first stage having a first pitch and a second stage having a second pitch that is greater than the first pitch. A second member includes a shaft and a neck. The shaft includes an outer surface defining a second thread form configured to engage the first thread form to lock the second member with the first member. The neck includes a smooth unthreaded section. Methods of use are disclosed.

Retention system and method

An instrument includes a sleeve extending between proximal and distal ends. The sleeve defines a passageway. The distal end defines an engagement portion including an engagement surface extending from a first end to a second end. A peg extends outwardly from the first end. An opening that is in communication with the passageway extends through the second end. A knob is coupled to the proximal end. A shaft includes a proximal end and an opposite distal end. The distal end of the shaft includes a mating portion. The mating portion extends through the opening. The proximal end of the shaft is coupled to the knob. The knob is rotatable relative to the sleeve to rotate the shaft relative to the sleeve. Methods of use are disclosed.

Surgical implant

A spinal implant comprises a first member, a second member and an actuator defining a transverse pivot axis. A first link is connected to the first member and the actuator adjacent the pivot axis. The first link includes an inner surface defining a cavity. A second link is connected to the second member and the actuator adjacent the pivot axis. The actuator is rotatable for translating the pivot axis such that the second link is movable within the cavity to move the members between a contracted configuration and an expanded configuration. Systems and methods of use are disclosed.

Expandable spinal implant system with a biased tip and method of using same

A surgical device is provided. The surgical device includes a tubular outer shaft having a longitudinal axis and an angled guide positioned on a first end of the surgical device. The angled guide may be angled relative to the longitudinal axis of the outer shaft. The surgical device includes an elongated inner shaft having a second end and a third end. The inner shaft is removably coupled to the outer shaft and configured to axially translate through the outer shaft. The surgical device includes pivotal device having at least one joint and an access tool. The at least one joint may be pivotally coupled to the third end of the inner shaft and to an end of the access tool. The pivotal device may be configured to axially translate through the angled guide into a deployed position.

Medical access device

A spinal implant comprises a first member, a second member and an actuator defining a transverse pivot axis, A first link is connected to the first member and the actuator adjacent the pivot axis. The first link includes an inner surface defining a cavity. A second link is connected to the second member and the actuator adjacent the pivot axis. The actuator is rotatable for translating the pivot axis such that the second link is movable within the cavity to move the members between a contracted configuration and an expanded configuration. Systems and methods of use are disclosed.

A spinal implant includes a body having opposite first and second end walls and opposite first and second side walls. The side walls each extend from the first end wall to the second end wall. A first cap is coupled to top ends of the walls. A second cap is coupled to bottom ends of the walls. The implant includes an opening extending through the caps such that the first cap defines a first ledge extending from the walls to the opening and the second cap defines a second ledge extending from the walls to the opening. Systems and methods of use are disclosed.

A device includes a core having proximal and distal ends and defining a first female thread. A drive screw includes first and second ends. The first end includes a first male thread. The second end including a second male thread that engages the first female thread. A first body includes a second female thread that engages the first male thread. A second body is coupled to the drive screw. A first plate is coupled to the core and the first body. The first plate includes a first vertebral engaging surface. A second plate is coupled to the core and includes a second vertebral engaging surface. The drive screw is configured to rotate relative to the core to simultaneously pivot the first plate relative to the core and alter a distance between the first vertebral engaging surface and the second vertebral engaging surface.

Expanding interbody implant and method

A device includes a core defining first and second female threads. A first member includes a first body and a first drive screw coupled to the first body, the first drive screw being configured to engage the first female thread. A second member includes a second body and a second drive screw coupled to the second body, the second drive screw being configured to engage the second female thread. A first plate is coupled to the core and the first body. The first plate includes a first vertebral engaging surface. A second plate is coupled to the core and the second body. The second plate includes a second vertebral engaging surface. The drive screws are configured to independently rotate relative to the core to pivot the first plate relative to the core and to alter a distance between the first vertebral engaging surface and the second vertebral engaging surface.

An approach is provided for a three-dimensional (3D) printing method for forming a 3D object. The approach provides for printing a structure of the 3D object by depositing a thermoplastic material, in which the thermoplastic material is radiolucent. The approach provides for printing one or more radio-opaque markers by depositing another material, which includes at least a radio-opaque material. The approach integrates the one or more radio-opaque markers with the structure of the 3D object.
