Polymeric coupling agents incorporate within their structures co-vulcanizable groups such as alkenyl, epoxide, acrylate and/or acrylamide, and metal-complexing groups such as carboxylic, oxime, amine, hydroxamic and/or iminodiacetic groups. The polymeric coupling agents are useful in the adhesion of certain substrates and are particularly useful as adhesives for the adhesion of rubbers with metals. Snytheses of the novel polymeric coupling agents are provided.

Polymeric coupling agents for the adhesion of macromolecular materials

The invention relates to a method for applying a blood-compatible polyethlene oxide coating to polyether-urethane moulded articles like catheters, for instance oxygen sensor catheters. The so obtained blood-compatible articles may advantageously be used in the case of long-term contact with blood or body tissue.

Method for applying a blood-compatible coating to polyether-urethane

This invention relates to a process and to absorbent material for isolating coagulation factors, including FVIII and vWF, from the example blood plasma and plasma products by means of liquid chromatography. The adsorbent material comprises a polymeric carrier to which amino groups are linked as ligands through spacers. The spacers have a chain length of at least 6 atoms and contain at least one hydrophilic link within the chain. The spacers preferably have the formula --(CH.sub.2).sub.m --CO--NH--(CH.sub.2).sub.n -- wherein m and n each represent an integer of 1-6 and m+n is at least 4. The spacers are preferably linked to the carrier through --CO--NH-- groups. The ligand density in the absorbent material is preferably higher than 30 umoles/ml of swollen matrix.

Process for isolating coagulation factors, and adsorbent material

A binder for low density lipoproteins (LDL) consisting of sulphated polyvinyl alcohol which is cross-linked by the chemical or the physical route to a waterinsoluble product. The binder may be in the form of a hydrogel which is applied or not to a carrier or it may be present on the surface of a polyvinyl alcohol fibre which is preferably in the form of tape having a thickness of 0,1 to 2 .mu.m and a width of 0,5 to 6 .mu.m. The fibre shaped binder is prepared by successively cross-linking with an acidified aqueous solution of glutardialdehyde and sulphating with chlorosulphonic acid.
