A first mobile communication device that includes a first microphone, a first speaker, and a first delay unit. The first microphone is configured to (i) receive, during a conference call, a first user first microphone signal from a first user, and (ii) output a first microphone digital signal to the first delay unit. The first user first microphone signal represents audio content outputted by the first user. The first delay unit is configured to delay, by a delay period, the first microphone digital signal to provide a delayed first user first device digital signal. The first mobile communication device is configured to output, to a mixer, the delayed first user first device digital signal. The delay period is determined based on measurements executed by at least one mobile communication device out of the first mobile communication device, a second mobile communication device and a third mobile communication device.

Conference call and mobile communication devices that participate in a conference call

A mobile communication device that comprises a microphone, a speaker, an input output port and one or more modules; wherein the microphone is configured to receive, during a conference call, (a) an acoustic signal from a first person, and (b) a cross echo from a speaker of another mobile communication device that participates in the conference call, the cross echo is generated as a result of the acoustic signal from the first person; and wherein the one or more modules are configured to cancel the cross echo based, at least in part, of the acoustic signal of the first person.

A method for noise cancellation, the method may include detecting a voice trigger or receiving an indication regarding an occurrence of a voice trigger; searching, based at least on a timing of occurrence of the voice trigger, for at least one of a noise-period and a voice-period; when finding a noise period then updating one or more noise parameters based on one or more features of sensed audio signals received during the noise period; when finding a voice period then updating one or more voice parameters based on one or more features of sensed audio signals received during the voice period; estimating, based on the one or more noise parameters and the one or more voice parameters, a probability that voice is present at one or more subsequent periods; and cancelling noise at the one or more subsequent periods, based on the voice presence probability.

A user equipment device operating in a cellular communications system includes a neighbor cell searcher configured to receive a first reference signal transmitted from a base station of a first cell of the cellular communications system and determine first channel information associated with the first cell, and receive a second reference signal transmitted from a base station of a second cell of the cellular communications system and determine second channel information associated with the second cell. A channel estimator is configured to generate correlations between times and frequencies associated with reception of the first reference signal and the second reference signal, and generate a channel estimate corresponding to the first reference signal based on the first channel information, the second channel information, and the correlations.

Channel estimation with co-channel pilots suppression

A method includes receiving in a receiver transmissions from a serving cell that serves the receiver and from one or more neighbor cells. The transmissions are received via multiple receive antennas to produce multiple respective output signals. The multiple output signals are weighed with respective weights, and the weighted output signals are combined to produce a combined output signal. The weights are selected so as to form a composite antenna pattern having a first antenna gain in one or more first directions that point toward the neighbor cells, and a second antenna gain, lower than the first antenna gain, in a second direction that points toward the serving cell. Characteristics of the one or more neighbor cells are measured by processing the combined output signal in which the transmissions received from the serving cell are attenuated.

System and method for measuring characteristics of neighbor cells using a synthesized composite antenna pattern

A method in a mobile communication terminal includes holding a definition of a sub-sampled codebook identifying precoding matrices to be used for providing precoding feedback by the terminal. The precoding matrices in the sub-sampled codebook are selected from a master codebook that is made-up of a long-term sub-codebook and a short-term sub-codebook. The definition defines a first subset of the long-term sub-codebook and a second subset of the short-term sub-codebook. A Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) signal is received in the terminal via multiple receive antennas. Based on the received MIMO signal, a precoding matrix is selected from the sub-sampled codebook for precoding subsequent MIMO signals transmitted to the terminal. The precoding feedback indicating the selected precoding matrix is calculated.

Codebook subsampling for PUCCH feedback

A method for mobile telecommunication includes receiving in a mobile communication terminal downlink signals from at least first and second cells that coordinate transmission of the downlink signals with one another. Channel feedback is calculated in the terminal based on the received downlink signals. The channel feedback is configured to enable the first cell to precode a first signal destined for the terminal in response to the channel feedback with a first precoding vector, and to enable the second cell to precode a second signal destined for the terminal in response to the channel feedback with a second precoding vector that differs in magnitude from the first precoding vector. The first and second signals convey same data. The channel feedback is transmitted from the terminal. Calculating the channel feedback includes calculating one or more of a single-user Channel Quality Indicator (CQI), a multi-user CQI, and a non-cooperative-transmission CQI.

Some of the embodiments of the present disclosure provide a method for reducing interference feedback in a mobile device operating in a wireless system employing coordinated transmission. The method comprises the mobile device establishing a plurality of channels with a plurality of base stations. The plurality of base stations includes a serving base station and one or more interfering base stations. The method further comprises the mobile device reporting, to the serving base station, reduced feedback information including a vector approximation of a feedback matrix associated with an interfering channel established with an interfering base station. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.

Reduction of feedback information received by a base station from a mobile device

A method in a mobile communication terminal includes receiving signals from a serving cell and from one or more interfering cells. Respective channel responses are estimated in the terminal for the signals received from the interfering cells. A level of interference, caused by the signals of the interfering cells to a signal received from the serving cell, is derived from the channel responses. A Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) is calculated for the signal received from the serving cell based on the level of interference caused by the signals of the interfering cells. Feedback information is produced based on the SNR and transmitted from the terminal.

Feedback for cooperative multipoint transmission systems

A method for communication includes configuring a communication system that includes a transmitter and a receiver with first precoding matrices for mapping up to N data streams onto N transmit antenna ports of the transmitter. Each of at least some of the first precoding matrices are derived from respective second and third precoding matrices. The second and third precoding matrices are configured for mapping data onto respective numbers of transmit antenna ports that are less than N. The data streams are mapped onto the N transmit antenna ports using a precoding scheme based on one of the first precoding matrices. The mapped data streams are transmitted over the N transmit antenna ports from the transmitter to the receiver.

Precoding codebooks for 4TX and 8TX MIMO communication systems

A method includes, in a mobile communication terminal, receiving from at least first and second base stations, which cooperate in a coordinated transmission scheme, signals that are transmitted over respective first and second communication channels. Respective channel measures are calculated for the communication channels based on the received signals. First and second feedback data, which are indicative of the respective channel measures of the first and second communication channels, are formulated such that the first feedback data has a first data size and the second feedback data has a second data size, different from the first data size. The first and second feedback data are transmitted from the mobile communication terminal to at least one of the base stations.

Asymmetrical feedback for coordinated transmission systems

A control channel encoder includes a determiner configured to determine a current value of K for encoding control signals of a length M, wherein K is a function of a code rate for a data channel. A table generator is configured to, if K is greater than a predetermined threshold, generate a repeated matrix from a fixed block encoding matrix by variably repeating rows from said fixed block encoding matrix. A puncturer is configured to, if K is less than the predetermined threshold, puncture the fixed block encoding matrix to reduce a size of the fixed block encoding matrix. A block encoder is configured to utilize said repeated matrix, to encode M input control bits as K encoded control bits, by generating an encoded payload from said repeated matrix.

Block encoding with a variable rate block code

A method includes holding in a receiver a definition of a codebook including precoding matrices, and a definition of multiple sub-codebooks including different respective subsets of the precoding matrices in the codebook. A sub-codebook is selected in coordination with a transmitter, for use in a given time interval or frequency range. A Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) signal that is transmitted from the transmitter is received. Feedback is generated in the receiver based on the received MIMO signal. The feedback is indicative of one or more preferred precoding matrices, which are chosen from the selected sub-codebook and which are to be used in precoding subsequent MIMO signals in respective partitions of the given time interval or frequency range. The feedback is transmitted from the receiver to the transmitter.

Codebook adaptation in MIMO communication systems using multilevel codebooks

A method includes receiving a Multiple-Input Multiple Output (MIMO) signal over multiple communication channels from an antenna array including a first set of antennas having a first polarization and a second set of the antennas having a second polarization that is orthogonal to the first polarization. First feedback information is calculated relating to first interrelations between the antennas within either the first set or the second set. Second feedback information is calculated relating at least to second interrelations between the first set and the second set of the antennas. The first feedback information is transmitted at a first time/frequency granularity, and the second feedback information is transmitted at a second time/frequency granularity that is finer than the first time/frequency granularity.
