A compressor device includes a coolant jacket cooperatively defined by a motor case and an outer motor housing. The coolant jacket includes a radial portion that spans about the motor case in a circumferential direction and an axial direction with respect to the axis of rotation of the motor. The coolant jacket includes an axial portion that spans in a radial direction across an axial end of the motor case. At least one of the plurality of flow passages fluidly connects the radial portion and the axial portion.

A turbomachine includes a first housing member having a first journal bearing portion and a first radial control surface. The turbomachine also includes a second housing member with a second journal bearing portion and a second radial control surface. The second radial control surface has an interference fit with the first radial control surface that radially aligns the second journal bearing portion and the first journal bearing portion along a common axis.

A compressor device includes a motor cooling system that provides a first flow of a first fluid through a housing for cooling a motor. The motor cooling system includes a first fluid flow section at a first axial position. The first fluid flow section extends in a downstream direction radially with respect to the axis of rotation. Also, the device includes a bearing cooling system that provides a second flow of a second fluid through the housing for cooling the bearing. The bearing cooling system includes a second flow section at a second axial position that is spaced apart axially from the first axial position. The second flow section extends in a downstream direction radially with respect to the axis of rotation. The first flow section and the second flow section are disposed in a heat exchanger arrangement configured to transfer heat between the second fluid and the first fluid.

A centrifugal compressor may comprise a wheel and a pipe diffuser. The pipe diffuser may comprise an annular pipe diffuser section and at least one cylindrical hole passing through the annular pipe diffuser section for compressing gas emerging from the wheel. The at least one cylindrical hole may have an axis that is slanted at an angle A relative to a plane that is orthogonal to an axis of rotation of the compressor.

An apparatus and method for maintaining separation of two journal foil bearing assemblies, where each journal foil bearing assembly comprises one or more foils with lugs formed thereon for insertion into axial grooves of a bore, the means comprising a pin for insertion into each groove so that an edge of the lug that is inserted into the groove abuts the pin and is prevented from axially drifting along the bore. The pin provides a broad area along the lug edge so that the lug edge does not cut into the pin.
