An application deployed in a public cloud is enabled to access an on-premises resource securely and without requiring additional ports on a firewall. A pair of security gateways is instantiated, one at the cloud, and another located on-premises. Each gateway can access information that is necessary to locate and establish a secure connection to the on-premises resource. In response to a determination that the application needs to access the on-premises resource, the data set is used to locate the resource. A communication request is then issued from the cloud gateway to the on-premises gateway over a socket-based communication channel established between the gateways. The communication request is sent over an HTTP-based protocol such that the application is able to access the on-premises resource without requiring an additional IP address/port to be defined at the firewall. Proxied connectivity is then enabled from the application to the on-premises resource.

Enabling an on-premises resource to be exposed to a public cloud application securely and seamlessly

A roller press suited for pressing matter between rollers. Parallel shafts each have a roller fitted over the shaft. At an end of each shaft is a slot with an underlying pocket. Across an inside end of the roller is a pin. When a roller is installed over a shaft, the pin engages into the slot and then into the pocket. When the shaft is rotated under torque the pin seats inside the pocket and cannot be axially removed from the shaft. When the torque is removed the pin and slot can re-align allowing removal of the roller from the shaft for easy maintenance and cleaning.

A method, apparatus and programmed storage device for routing data through a communications network. More specifically, a programmable traffic manager is programmed with at least one application level directive and the data is routed through the network to one of the network nodes using the programmable traffic manager, which is programmed in accordance with the application level directive. In a particular example of this invention, a request from a client is routed by the programmable traffic manager to at least one a plurality of servers hosting an application, where the programmable traffic manager is routed in accordance with the application level directive.

Cooperative routing between traffic control device and multi-server application

Delegation of processing functions to specialized appliances in an enterprise is provided. An appliance typically comprises a combination of hardware and resident firmware that addresses needs in a computing environment, such as by providing common message transformation, integration, security, filtering and other functions. Delegation is carried out by specifying at least one XML function for front-process offloading from a server to a corresponding appliance configured to receive messages pushed towards the server, communicating management directives to the appliance for configuring the appliance to perform the specified XML function(s) according to specific requirements dynamically specified by the server and communicating instructions to the appliance so that the appliance augments received event messages with intermediate processing information based upon the front-process offloading, as received event messages pass through the appliance.

High-performance XML processing in a common event infrastructure

In a method and system for creating a federation of a plurality of enterprise service buses (ESBs), a plurality of ESB nodes provide connectivity to one or more services. According to a protocol, at least a portion of the ESB nodes transmit policy-based service advertisement messages to other ESB nodes, wherein the policy-based service advertisement messages include service state information. In response to receiving the policy-based service advertisement messages, each of the ESB nodes stores the service state information received from other ESB nodes in respective distributed registries to create a local view of routable service endpoints in the federation. Each of the ESB nodes then uses its respective distributed registry to make routing decisions when routing service requests.

Protocol for enabling dynamic and scalable federation of enterprise service buses

A method, computer program product, and system are disclosed for dynamically provisioning clusters of middleware appliances. In one embodiment, the method includes referencing a resource measurement from a plurality of middleware appliances. The middleware appliances process one or more service domains and the resource measurement includes processing resources consumed by each middleware appliance for each of the one or more service domains. The method may also include determining an implementation plan based on a performance goal and one or more resource calculations. The implementation plan specifies service domain instances to activate and service domain instances to deactivate on the plurality of middleware appliances. The method may also include dynamically enabling and disabling the service domain instances on the plurality of middleware appliances based on the implementation plan.

Dynamically provisioning clusters of middleware appliances

A protocol to enable management of opaque entities in a computing environment comprises an events component and a commands component. The events component enables a manager to utilize a received event communicated by a corresponding managed entity to indicate when administration or other management actions have occurred to domain information on the corresponding managed entity. The commands component interacts with the managed entities in response to the events component receiving corresponding events there from. The commands component further comprises commands for backing up the domain information stored by the managed entities as opaque configuration objects, for restoring the domain information to the managed entities as opaque configuration objects and for querying an identified one of the plurality of managed entities to determine whether two domain configurations are semantically different in a way that allows the configuration to remain opaque to the manager.

Managing collections of appliances

A request for a software service utilizes a service intermediary. The service intermediary 1) checks the request to confirm that it conforms to XML well-formedness, and 2) validates the schema of the request. If the request passes both tests, then flags are appended to the request, which is sent to a service provider. The flag indicates to the service provider that the request has already been checked and validated, such that the service provider only needs to provide the requested service, without redundantly checking and validating the request.

Avoiding redundant computation in service-oriented architectures

Methods, systems and computer program products are provided for selectively allowing a user of a multi-user system access to a plurality of resources in a network. Pursuant to these methods, systems and computer program products, a request, originated by a user of the multi-user system, may be received to transmit a message over the network to one of the plurality of resources in the network. A security zone associated with this resource may then be identified. Pursuant to the operations of the present invention, if it is determined that the user is authorized access to the identified security zone, the message may be forwarded over the network to the resource.
