A self stringing jet for air texturing yarn having a yarn needle slidably mounted in the jet body for movement from a preset operating position to a string-up position. The yarn needle may be removed for inspection without disturbing the appropriate operating position by attaching a flange located outside the jet body to the yarn needle in a manner to engage means for stopping slidable movement of the yarn needle in the operating position. The flange is rotatable from engagement with means for stopping slidable movement of the yarn needle to permit the yarn needle to be moved axially out from the body without disturbing the means for stopping the yarn guiding member or without further rotation; the means for stopping slidable movement of the yarn needle is resettable to various positions to handle texturing of various yarn sizes.

Yarn texturing jet with improved assembly and disassembly features

A yarn treating jet is modified to locate a baffle at the outlet end of the jet. The baffle is positioned a fixed distance above the central axis of the jet and away from the outlet end of the jet such that the yarn and air follow the lower surface of the baffle to a point where the yarn leaves the baffle.

Air texturing jet

In a system for air-jet texturing yarn a yarn treating jet is modified to locate a baffle at the outlet end of the jet. The baffle is positioned a fixed distance above the central axis of the jet and away from the outlet end of the jet such that the yarn and air follow the lower surface of the baffle to a point where the yarn leaves the baffle to increase windup tension and provide a highly coherent textured yarn.

System for preparing highly coherent air jet textured yarn

A process for drawing and air-jet bulking polyester yarn which has been spin-oriented by melt-spinning at high speed. The yarn is drawn while heating it with a heater at a temperature greater than 180.degree. C and the drawn yarn is immediately air-jet textured to produce crunodal surface loops. Boil-off shrinkages of less than 3.5 percent are obtained without heating the yarn after it is drawn.

Process for producing textured polyester yarn

A process for draw-texturing polyester yarn which has been melt-spun at high speed. The process is performed on a conventional false-twist texturing machine modified for drawing and for the use of an air-jet texturing device instead of a second heater. The yarn is drawn at 1.3 to 2.0X draw ratio, false-twist textured, and then air-jet textured to provide a yarn having a low boil-off shrinkage, resiliency and spun-like aesthetics.

Process for texturing polyester yarn

A jet apparatus has a body member having a yarn passage with a semi-circular cross section cut in one face, a single air orifice of diameter less than the yarn passage entering the yarn passage from the body side at an angle of 80.degree. to 90.degree. to the yarn passage, a cover plate secured by two screws and pivotable about one for stringup, and guides holding two yarns separated as they contact the yarn passage entrance. The jet apparatus is strung up passing two ends of false-twist-textured yarn separately into the yarn passage of the jet with the cover plate swung open while holding both running ends in a waste jet at a relatively high tension to keep the yarns separated in the yarn passage and finally closing and securing the jet cover. Turning on pressurized air to the jet and transferring both yarns simultaneously from the waste jet to a windup where they are wound at lower tension allow the two ends to combine together in the jet.
