A stationary access terminal, such as a stationary remote sensor, capable of wireless communication with a network is provided. The access terminal obtains sector information associated with a wireless network node by establishing a communication link with the network node. The access terminal then stores the sector information in non-volatile memory, and later retrieves the sector information from the memory, for example, after a subsequent boot up or wake up event. The stored sector information is used by the access terminal to establish a subsequent communication link with the network node, and may include at least one of channel, band, and pseudo-random number sequence information. The access terminal may also store overhead messages received from the network node in the non-volatile memory. The stored overhead messages may later be retrieved to establish system operating parameters of the network node after the subsequent boot up or wake up event.

Rapid network acquisition and overhead message storage for machine-to-machine devices

Methods, systems and devices are provided for managing quad SIM functionality on a mobile device. The method includes maintaining a first subscription and a second subscription active in slotted idle states on a first RF chain on the mobile device. The first subscription being associated with a first SIM and the second subscription being associated with a second SIM. The method also includes maintaining a third subscription and a fourth subscription active in slotted idle states on a second RF chain on the mobile device. The third subscription being associated with a third SIM and the fourth subscription being associated with a fourth SIM. In the slotted idle states the first, second, third and fourth subscriptions are able to monitor pages in respective paging channel slots. Further, the method includes switching the third subscription to the first RF chain in response to the fourth subscription entering a dedicated traffic state.

Quad SIM functionality for a dual active mobile device

Methods and apparatuses are presented for piecewise aggregation of overhead messages. According to a method that is presented, that the method can include starting a timer having a time period during which a first radio access technology (RAT) of the UE attempts to obtain overhead messages from a cell. The method can also include obtaining, at a radio resource of the UE and during the time period, a first portion of the overhead messages from the cell. In addition, the method may include determining that the timer has expired and handing over the radio resource to a second RAT of the UE when the timer has expired. The method also may include aggregating the first portion of the overhead messages with a second portion of the overhead messages. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.

Piecewise aggregation of overhead messaging sets

The various embodiments include methods and apparatuses for avoiding interference scenarios during concurrent communication of dual-technology wireless communication devices. Interference scenarios may be avoided by predicatively determining the potential for interference between the channels of multiple communications on the dual-technology wireless communication devices. For a pending communication, a predicative calculation may be made to determine whether the channel of the pending communication and the channel of an active communication may interfere with each other. If so, the communication with a lower priority may switch to the highest powered channel that does not interfere with the higher priority communication. Once the interference condition expires, and the lower priority communication persists, its channel may switch to a higher power channel that will not cause interference with any active or pending communications. Switching the channel for a communication may be prompted by electromagnetic interference from components of the dual-technology wireless communication devices.

Enhanced mobile standby performance during simultaneous dual-technology communication by avoiding interference scenarios

Access terminals are adapted to facilitate power conservation by selectively powering down one or more hardware block when processing a general page message (GPM) received in slotted idle mode. An access terminal may include a processor core, a de-interleaver, a decoder and a firmware block. The firmware block may be adapted to enable the processor core to sleep while the firmware block collects samples of a received transmission and extracts symbols from the collected samples. The firmware block may further power ON the de-interleaver to de-interleave the extracted symbols, and the decoder to decode the de-interleaved symbols. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also included.

Methods and devices for processing a general page message in slotted idle mode

An apparatus, a method, and a computer program are disclosed, which can enable a wireless user equipment (UE) to reduce or avoid system losses, such as decode failures and the unavailability of page messages, which might otherwise result in a poor user experience. By way of example and not limitation, a UE may be configured to switch from a low-sensitivity receiver to a high-sensitivity receiver, or to a receive diversity configuration, when operating under poor channel conditions.

Apparatus and method for utilizing a smart receiver switch for improving idle mode performance

Aspects of the present disclosure are directed to an apparatus and methods capable of pre-correcting reacquisition slew of pilot signal timing when a mobile device operates in a slotted mode or discontinuous reception (DRX) mode. In one aspect, a mobile device is operated in slotted mode. The mobile device wakes up to perform a pilot reacquisition corresponding to a slotted mode and detects a slew of a pilot timing relative to a pilot reference timing. The mobile device adjusts a subsequent pilot reference timing by an amount corresponding to the detected slew, to be utilized during a subsequent wake-up cycle. The mobile device returns to a sleep state to wait for the subsequent wake-up cycle. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.

Apparatus and method for avoiding system losses for M2M devices operating at longer slot cycle

Methods, systems and devices are providing for managing quad SIM functionality on a mobile device. The method includes maintaining active in a data traffic state on a first radio frequency (RF) chain of the mobile device a first subscription of a first SIM. Also, maintaining active in a slotted idle state each of a second SIM subscription, a third SIM subscription and a fourth SIM subscription on a second RF chain of the mobile device. The slotted idle states enabling the subscriptions to monitor pages in their paging channel slots. The method may include switching the third and fourth subscriptions to the first RF chain in response to the second subscription exiting the slotted idle state. The first, subscription may operate with tune away support while the third and fourth subscriptions operate in slotted idle state together on the first RF chain.

Aspects of the present disclosure provide methods and apparatuses for improved throughput for network subscriptions in multi-SIM, multi-standby wireless devices by altering a tune away frequency to another network subscription based on throughput level or communication link parameters. For example, the present application provides a method of tune away in a wireless system, which includes initiating a data session via a first subscription in a multi-subscriber identity module, multi-standby user equipment, determining that a data rate associated with the data session is less than a threshold data rate value, establishing a modified tune away frequency based on the determining, and tuning a radio resource away to a second subscription based on the modified tune away frequency. Through such operation, throughput on an active subscription in such user equipment can be dynamically maximized.
