A system and method for managing a trusted connection within a public cloud comprises transmitting a first token and a second token from a cloud service manager to a public cloud controller, initializing a public cloud manager in response to receipt of the first token and the second token, and generate a cloud certificate, and transmitting the cloud certificate and the second token from the public cloud manager to a management plane. The method further comprises establishing a trusted connection between the public cloud controller and the management plane in response to receipt of the cloud certificate and the second token by the management plane.

System and method for authentication in a public cloud

Syncing compliance policies on a private cloud network and a public cloud network is disclosed. The technology accesses a hybrid cloud environment including: at least one private cloud network and at least one public cloud network. A private policy gateway appliance is coupled with the private cloud network and a public policy gateway appliance, in communication with the private policy gateway appliance, is coupled with the public cloud network. One or more policy rules for the hybrid cloud environment are provided to the private policy gateway appliance which then disseminates the one or more policy rules to the public policy gateway appliance, such that the one or more policy rules are synced for the at least one private cloud network and the at least one public cloud network.

Techniques for performing network address allocation, administration and management in federated cloud computing networks are described. In one example embodiment, network interface cards (NICs) in a local network services appliance and a remote network services appliance register with an associated local network cloud and remote network cloud in the federated cloud computing networks. The local cloud network and the remote cloud network are then configured to send packets with unclaimed network address to the associated registered NICs. A layer-2 (L2) network tunnel including a data channel and a control channel is then formed between the local network services appliance and the remote network services appliance by stitching the local cloud network and the remote cloud network. Network address allocation, administration and management in the federated cloud computing networks are then performed using the formed L2 network tunnel.

Techniques for booting from an encrypted hard disk are disclosed. In one particular embodiment, the techniques may be realized as a method for booting from an encrypted virtual hard disk comprising booting a computing device from an encrypted virtual hard disk in a booting environment and authenticating an encryption password associated with the encrypted virtual hard disk. The method may comprise decrypting, via at least one computer processor, the encrypted virtual hard disk using the encryption password based at least in part on an authentication of the encryption password.

A computer-implemented method for performing live backups may include identifying a request to perform a live backup on a volume of data. The computer-implemented method may also include creating a snapshot of the volume. The computer-implemented method may further include identifying each attempt to write to the volume during the live backup. The computer-implemented method may additionally include, for each write attempt, identifying a block of data that the write attempt will overwrite and copying the block of data to a backup queue before allowing the write attempt. Systems and methods for backup test restore are presented. In one embodiment a backup restore test method includes performing a backup process; performing a test restore virtual environment creation process, the test restore virtual environment including a plurality of virtual machines; and performing a test of the backup on the test restore virtual environment. The backup process can include backing up information associated with an application; identifying prerequisites associated with running the application; and backing up information associated with the prerequisites. The test restore virtual environment creation process can include gathering information identifying the prerequisites associated with the application; creating the plurality of virtual machines, wherein the plurality of virtual machines includes virtual machines corresponding to physical machines the application and perquisites run on; and bringing up the plurality of virtual machines utilizing the information from the backup process.

Procedures and systems may be used for archiving data from a secondary data set that is a stable copy of a primary data set. In one implementation, the secondary data set is a continuous data protection (CDP) copy of the primary data set. One implementation of a method includes receiving an application programming interface (API) request for archive-eligible data, gathering application data from a secondary data set, obtaining archive-eligible data from the gathered application data, and responding to the request instruction with the archive-eligible data. The gathering is performed by a gathering circuit configured to obtain information from a plurality of types of secondary data sets. The method also includes receiving API modification instructions related to the archive-eligible data, and causing the modification instruction to be performed on the primary data set.
