Systems and computer implemented methods that include motion compensation in a three-dimensional (3D) scan. Motion compensation can include receiving 3D scans of a dentition, registering a distorted scan of the 3D scans with a previous scan and a subsequent scan of the 3D scans, estimating a motion trajectory from the previous scan to the subsequent scan, and calculating a corrected scan for the distorted scan by compensating for the motion trajectory from the previous scan to the subsequent scan.

Systems and methods including motion compensation in a three-dimensional scan

Embodiments relate to techniques for real-time and post-scan visualization of intraoral scan data, which may include 3D images, 3D scans, 3D surfaces and/or 3D models. In one embodiment, an intraoral scanning system comprises a plurality of image sensors to periodically generate a set of intraoral two-dimensional (2D) images, wherein for each set of intraoral 2D images each image sensor of the plurality of image sensors is to generate an intraoral 2D image, and wherein relative positions and orientations of the plurality of image sensors are known. The intraoral scanning system further comprises a computing device, wherein the computing device is to perform the following for each set of intraoral 2D images: generate a combined intraoral image based on merging the set of intraoral 2D images together during scanning; and output the combined intraoral image to a display.

Viewing trajectory for 3D dental model

A method of intraoral scanning includes receiving a first one or more intraoral scans of a patient's oral cavity; automatically determining, based on processing of the first one or more intraoral scans, a first scanning role associated with the first one or more intraoral scans, wherein the first scanning role is a first one of an upper dental arch role, a lower dental arch role or a bite role; and determining a first three-dimensional surface associated with the first scanning role.

Smart scanning for intraoral scanners

In embodiments set forth herein, an intraoral scanning system includes a first intraoral scanner, a second intraoral scanner, and a computing device wirelessly connected to both the first intraoral scanner and the second intraoral scanner. The computing device receives first intraoral scan data from the first intraoral scanner and generates a first three-dimensional (3D) surface of at least a portion of a first patient's dental arch based on the first intraoral scan data. Analysis and visualization of dental arch over time

Methods and apparatuses (including systems and devices), including computer-implemented methods for segmenting, correcting and/or modifying a three-dimensional (3D) model of a subject's oral cavity to determine individual components such as teeth, gingiva, tongue, palate, etc., that may be selective and/or collectively digitally manipulated. In some implementations, artificial intelligence uses libraries of labeled 2D images and 3D dental models to learn how to segment a 3D dental model of a subject's oral cavity using 2D images, height map and/or other data and projection values that relate the 2D images to the 3D model. As noted herein, the dental classes can include a variety of intra-oral and extra-oral objects and can be represented as binary values, discrete values, a continuum of height map data, etc. In some implementations, several dental classes are predicted concurrently.

Apparatuses and methods for three-dimensional dental segmentation using dental image data

Apparatuses, including sleeves, intraoral scanning systems to use these sleeves, and methods of using the sleeve, that authenticate the sleeve for use with an intraoral scanning system. Authentication may include verifying that the sleeve is new (unused) and/or verifying that the sleeve is appropriate and/or intended for use with the intraoral scanning system. Once authenticated, operation parameters of the intraoral scanning system can be automatically set based on information from a scanned identifier on the sleeve.

Dental panoramic views

A processing device of a system makes a comparison between a current image of an oral cavity of a patient and one or more previously received images of the oral cavity of the patient, the current image and the one or more previously received images having been generated by an intraoral scanner. The processing device determines an amount of overlap between a current field of view of the intraoral scanner and topography scans of the oral cavity based on the comparison. The processing device outputs a warning indicator associated with a positioning of the current field of view of the intraoral scanner responsive to determining that the amount of overlap fails to meet or exceed an overlap threshold.

Indicators that facilitate intraoral scanning

Calibrating an intraoral scanner includes obtaining reference data of a reference three-dimensional (3D) representation of a calibration object and obtaining, based on the intraoral scanner being used by a user to scan the 3D calibration object, and from one or more device to real-world coordinate transformations of two-dimensional (2D) images of the 3D calibration object, measurement data. Calibrating the intraoral scanner further includes aligning the measurement data to the reference data to obtain alignment data and updating, based on the alignment data, said one or more transformations.

Embodiments include receiving intraoral scan data comprising a plurality of intraoral images of a dental site generated during scanning of the dental site by an intraoral scanner, a plurality of ink markings each comprising a pattern of ink having been temporarily stamped or tattooed onto a gingival surface at the dental site prior to the scanning of the dental site, wherein at least two intraoral images of the plurality of intraoral images comprise representations of one or more ink markings of the plurality of ink markings. The first computing device wirelessly connects with a second computing device, and sends the identifier to the second computing device.
