A battery management system for monitoring battery cells of an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) coupled to a medical imaging load. The battery management system includes a first slave configured to obtain an operating parameter of a first battery cell. The first slave is configured to determine health of the first battery cell based at least in part on the operating parameter. The first slave is configured to generate a signal indicating the health of the first battery cell to communicate serially, via at least a second slave, to a master.

Battery management system

A system includes an AC-DC converter configured to convert power from an AC supply to a DC bus to provide a first portion of power a medical imaging load. The system includes an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) coupled to the DC bus. The UPS comprises at least one battery cell and a DC-DC converter comprising one or more switches and coupled between the at least one battery cell and the DC bus. The system includes a control system comprising a processor configured to send one or more signals to control operation of the one or more switches to cause the DC-DC converter to control power discharged from the at least one battery cell to the DC bus to provide a second portion of power to the medical imaging load.

Uninterruptible power supply (UPS) direct current (DC) load leveling

A wind energy power conversion system includes a gearbox, a generator, an AC to DC power converter, a DC link, and a DC to AC power converter, and at least one ultracapacitor module connected in parallel on the DC link. A method of reducing stress on a wind turbine gearbox can be performed by obtaining an unwanted frequency of the wind energy power conversion system gearbox; determining an input torque value on the input shaft of the gearbox as a function of time; determining a frequency of the input torque value; and adjusting a torque on the output shaft of the gearbox based on the unwanted frequency.

Wind energy power conversion system reducing gearbox stress and improving power stability

An energy system for heavy equipment having an actuator for operating a tool includes a bus, an engine, a generator, an energy storage device, and a controller. The bus is for providing electricity to the actuator as a function of operation of the tool. The engine is for providing a power output and the generator is coupled to the engine and configured to provide electricity to the bus. The energy storage device is configured to receive electricity from the bus for storage of energy, and is further configured to provide electricity to the bus to supplement the electricity provided by the generator. The controller is configured to change the power output of the engine as a function of electrical demand on the bus. In response to a change in the electrical demand, the controller is configured to change the power output of the engine at a rate that is less than a maximum capability of the engine.
