A flushable catheter having an outer wall defining an inner conduit and an inner core member positioned within the inner conduit. A fecal drainage system includes a collection bag and a catheter tube connectable to the collection bag. The catheter tube is a multi-layer odor barrier structure. The layers of the catheter tube include one or more thermoplastic elastomer layers and one or more odor barrier layers. For example, the catheter tube may comprise an inner thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) layer, an intermediate odor barrier film layer, and an outer TPE layer. Alternately, the multi-layer catheter tube includes an inner TPE layer sandwiched between outer layers of odor barrier film material.

A multi-layer odor barrier catheter tube for a fecal drainage catheter. The layers of the catheter tube include one or more thermoplastic elastomer layers and one or more odor barrier layers. For example, the catheter tube may comprise an inner thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) layer, an intermediate odor barrier film layer, and an outer TPE layer. Alternately, the multi-layer catheter tube includes an inner TPE layer sandwiched between outer layers of odor barrier film material.

A multi-layer odor barrier catheter tube for a fecal drainage catheter. The external surface has a low coefficient of friction, as does the internal surface. The layers of the catheter tube may be co-extruded, or formed as a heat-laminated film rolled into a cylindrical shape and heat-welded. A flexible scrim may be included intermediate the first and third layers. One or more tie layers may be included between at least one of the first and second layers, or the second and third layers. A combination of a multi-layer odor barrier catheter tube with an odor barrier collection bag is also described.

The present invention provides a receptacle for a therapeutic fluid susceptible to deterioration on exposure to a gas such as oxygen or carbon dioxide. The receptacle has walls of sheet material each including at least one layer forming a barrier essentially impermeable to such gas, and a seal sealing the walls together in a region thereof. A transfer tube is sealed in the seal having a proximal end in the receptacle, a distal end accessible from outside the receptacle, a flow passage extending between said proximal and distal ends, and a closure blocking flow through the flow passage adapted to be pierced by a tubular needle for transfer of therapeutic through the needle. The transfer tube and closure are essentially impermeable to said gas.
