An apparatus is disclosed for manufacturing an integral one-piece catheter having a tube and a hub. A mold having a mold cavity into which molten polymer is fed to form the hub and tube, and into which gas is injected into an inlet of the mold.

A method and an apparatus is disclosed for forming a one-piece introducer needle having a member portion and a needle portion by introducing a photoresist on a substrate. The temperature of the substrate is increased and then decreased. A photomask is deposited onto a substrate.

Photolithographic process for the formation of a one-piece needle

According to one aspect of the invention, a medical package is provided which includes a housing, and a catheter product. The housing defines an enclosure which is sealed against ingress of contaminants. The housing has at least a first part and a second part which is movable relative to the first part to open the enclosure. At least one of the parts has a plurality of pores through which a sterilization fluid can enter the enclosure, but which substantially prevent entry of contaminants into the enclosure. The catheter product includes a body, and a vascular access member. The vascular access member has a first end and a second, vascular entry end. The first end is secured to the body and the second end is located distant from the body. The catheter product is located entirely within the enclosure. The catheter product is secured in position to the housing. The catheter product is removed from the housing after the second part is moved relative to the first part to open the enclosure.

Packaging of catheter products

A method is provided for making a combination hub and catheter. A material is molded in a mold into a body having at least a first hub, and at least a first nose extending from the first hub. The first nose is then elongated into a catheter by moving first and second components of the mold away from one another.

Method of making an intravenous catheter assembly

A method for the protection of porous metallic surfaces, such as titanium tibial tray components, titanium hip stems, and cobalt chrome cup shells of various sizes, during machining, sandblasting, and inspection of orthopaedic implants is disclosed. Copolymers are prepared from 1,5-dioxepan-2-one and lactide and/or glycolide. The copolymers are useful in surgical applications such as sutures, suture lubricants, and allied surgical products. 1,5-Dioxepan-2-one is produced by a new process comprising first reacting ethylene glycol with an alkyl acrylate to form alkyl 3-(2-hydroxyethoxy)propionate, which is then cyclized by contacting with a trans-esterification catalyst.
