Battery electrode compositions are provided comprising core-shell composites. Each of the composites may comprise, for example, an active material, a collapsible core, and a shell. The active material may be provided to store and release metal ions during battery operation, whereby the storing and releasing of the metal ions causes a substantial change in volume of the active material. The collapsible core may be disposed in combination with the active material to accommodate the changes in volume. The shell may at least partially encase the active material and the core, the shell being formed from a material that is substantially permeable to the metal ions stored and released by the active material.

Multi-shell structures and fabrication methods for battery active materials with expansion properties

Versatile, multimode radiographic systems and methods utilize portable energy emitters and radiation-tracking detectors. The x-ray emitter may include a digital camera and, optionally, a thermal imaging camera to provide for fluoroscopic, digital, and infrared thermal imagery of a patient for the purpose of aiding diagnostic, surgical, and non-surgical interventions. The emitter may cooperative with an inventive x-ray capture stage that automatically pivots, orients and aligns itself with the emitter to maximize exposure quality and safety. The combined system uses less power, corrects for any skew or perspective in the emission, allows the subject to remain in place, and allows the surgeon's workflow to continue uninterrupted.

Imaging systems and methods

A battery electrode composition is provided comprising composite particles, with each composite particle comprising active material and a scaffolding matrix. The active material is provided to store and release ions during battery operation. For certain active materials of interest, the storing and releasing of the ions causes a substantial change in volume of the active material. The scaffolding matrix is provided as a porous, electrically-conductive scaffolding matrix within which the active material is disposed. In this way, the scaffolding matrix structurally supports the active material, electrically interconnects the active material, and accommodates the changes in volume of the active material.

Disclosed herein are interface devices and systems. In one aspect, a haptic interface device includes at least one position detection module configured to determine positional data for determining a position of at least one portion of at least one body part of the user; at least one tensile element or compressive element coupled to the at least one body part and configured to produce at least one of: a predetermined range of motion and applied force to a coupled body part; and at least one haptic feedback module configured to produce force feedback or tactile sensation to the at least one body part, the feedback module comprising: at least one motion control module configured to control motion of the at least one body part; and at least one force sensor configured to determine applied force data generated from the at least one body part. Also disclosed herein are methods for using the disclosed devices and systems.
