An electronics equipment cabinet includes one or more cabinet walls defining an interior enclosure space for housing electronic equipment and an air management box coupled to an interior surface of one of the one or more cabinet walls. The air management box includes a wall and a plurality of plates detachably coupled to the wall. The plates include a first plate having one or more perforations defining a first perforation pattern and a second plate having one or more perforations defining a second perforation pattern to control the direction and/or volume of airflow to the electronic equipment in the interior enclosure space or from the electronic equipment in the interior enclosure space to the air management box. The first perforation pattern is different than the second perforation pattern. Other example electronics equipment cabinets, electronics equipment cabinet kits, and methods of controlling airflow in electronic equipment cabinets are also disclosed.

Electronic equipment cabinets with configurable air plenums

An electronics equipment cabinet includes multiple cabinet walls defining an interior enclosure space for housing at least one electronic device, an outer wall positioned to shield from solar radiation an outer surface of at least one of the multiple cabinet walls, and at least one divider wall positioned between the outer wall and the cabinet wall to define first and second channels. The cabinet wall has two openings to allow internal cabinet air to flow between the interior enclosure space and the first channel, while inhibiting external ambient air from entering the interior enclosure space and the first channel. The outer wall has two openings positioned to allow external ambient air to flow through the second channel to cool the internal cabinet air in the first channel via heat exchange through the divider wall, while inhibiting the external cabinet air from mixing with the internal cabinet air.

Electronics equipment cabinets for housing electronic devices

An equipment enclosure includes an inner chamber having a top, a bottom opposing the top, and a plurality of sides between the top and the bottom, an outer chamber adjacent one of said plurality of sides of the inner chamber, and a wall extending between the inner chamber and the outer chamber. The inner chamber is configured to house one or more rechargeable batteries capable of releasing hydrogen gas over time. The wall includes one or more perforations to allow hydrogen gas released by the one or more rechargeable batteries to pass from the inner chamber into the outer chamber. The outer chamber includes an exterior wall having one or more perforations to allow the hydrogen gas in the outer chamber to exit the enclosure. Other example enclosures and methods of exhausting hydrogen gas from enclosures are also disclosed.

Enclosures and methods for removing hydrogen gas from enclosures

An electronics equipment cabinet includes a plurality of walls defining a first space and a second space adjacent the first space. A wall of the plurality of walls separates the first space and the second space and includes an opening. The cabinet further includes a heat generating module having an inlet side, an outlet side opposing the inlet side, a heat generating component between the inlet side and the outlet side, and an internal fan for directing air heated by the heat generating component into the second space via the opening of the wall. One or more walls of the plurality of walls defining the second space includes a thermally conductive material for transferring heat from the second space to a surrounding environment external to the cabinet to reduce a temperature in the cabinet. Other example cabinets and methods for reducing temperature in cabinets are also disclosed.

Passive cooling features for electronics equipment cabinets

An example enclosure includes a top portion, a bottom portion, and at least one heat generating module adjacent the top portion of the enclosure. The heat generating module includes an inlet side, an outlet side, a heat generating component and an internal fan. The enclosure also includes a heat collector positioned adjacent the outlet side of the heat generating module to collect warm air from the outlet side of the heat generating module and divert the warm air to the bottom portion of the enclosure to mix with cooler air. The internal fan of the heat generating module draws the mixed air into the heat generating module to create an airflow loop within the enclosure to cool the heat generating component without a heat sink, a heat exchanger, or a fan external to the heat generating module. Other example enclosures and methods of managing heat inside enclosures are also disclosed.
