Methods and corresponding systems and apparatuses for configuring user access to data stored in and/or accessed through an external computer system are described. Access permissions can be configured through defining a permission set relative to a proxy entity and assigning the permission set to one or more users. A proxy entity is a local representation of an external data entity. A proxy entity can be a virtual entity in that the proxy entity does not contain underlying data. A proxy entity can, however, include metadata describing its corresponding external data entity. A computer system maintaining a proxy entity can store mapping information linking the proxy entity to an external data entity. The mapping information and the permission set can be used to determine an access permission relative to the external data entity and to communicate this access permission to the external computer system so that access can be provided accordingly.

Access controls for external data records

Technologies are provided for tracking learning progress of an end user of a cloud computing platform when the end user is not registered with an external learning platform that provides an external learning application. In response to the end user interacting with virtual learning entities provided at the cloud computing platform, learning progress information with respect to the external learning application is generated. When a user service of the external learning platform receives a request to persist the learning progress information for the end user, the user service can determine whether a corresponding user account exists at the external learning platform that corresponds to the end user. If a corresponding user account does not exist, the user service can automatically provision an escrow user account that is associated with the end user. The escrow user account persists the learning progress information of the end user.

An achievement platform may be maintained using a database system. A user interface may be displayed on a device of an authorized user of the achievement platform. The user interface may be configurable to allow the authorized user to create or modify customizable awards that are achievable based on customizable logic definable by the authorized user. The authorized user may be affiliated with a first one of a plurality of organizations implementing an application or service. Input, to create a first award based on first customizable logic may be processed. The first customizable logic may be configured by the authorized user such that satisfaction of conditions causes designated users associated with the application or service to be presented with the first award. It may be determined that a first user affiliated with the first organization has satisfied the conditions. The first user may be presented with the first award.

Implementing an achievement platform using a database system

Disclosed are some implementations of systems, apparatus, methods and computer program products for facilitating the validation of assessments in an eLearning environment. Validation is facilitated using an assessment definition that includes one or more application programming interfaces (APIs) and identifies, for each of the APIs, a corresponding plugin and handler. Each of the APIs is configurable to obtain at least one user response to a corresponding challenge task via the corresponding plugin and each handler is configurable to validate the user response returned via the corresponding API. The accuracy of the user response to each challenge task is determined via the corresponding handler identified within the assessment definition. APIs can include a third party API, enabling validation of user responses across different systems. The user's knowledge may be assessed based upon the accuracy of the user's responses to all of the challenge tasks.

Disclosed are examples of systems, apparatus, methods, and computer program products for generating content objects using an integrated development environment. In some implementations, an integrated development environment is displayed. A request to generate or update an educational content object can be processed, and a presentation including metadata selection options can be provided. After a selection of one of the metadata selection options is received, the presentation can be updated. A different request is received from a rich text editor provided in a new presentation, and the new presentation can be updated.

Disclosed are some implementations of systems, apparatus, methods and computer program products for implementing an electronic learning (eLearrning) system. In some implementations, an indication of a user selection by a first user of electronic learning content of an electronic learning (eLearning) system is processed, where the electronic learning content includes a learning module. Learning module is initiated or resumed. The progress of the first user in relation to completion of the learning module is tracked. An unanswered question that pertains to the learning module and that has been submitted by a second user is identified based, at least in part, on the progress of the first user in relation to the completion of the learning module. The unanswered question is then provided via a web page of the learning module for presentation via a client device of the first user.

Content deployment systems and methods are provided for continuously integrating and deploying selected content items from a plurality of content sources into a specific release as part of the specific release. For example, a first content source stores a plurality of first content items for potential inclusion in the specific release. A manifest record for the specific release specifies release items that are allowed to be part of the specific release. A proxy can periodically retrieve selected ones of the first content items that are specified in the manifest record, and push them to a content publishing engine. Any content items that are not specified in the manifest record are rejected by the proxy. A processor of the content publishing engine can allow for continuous integration of the selected ones of the first content items into the specific release.

Disclosed are examples of systems, apparatus, methods, and computer program products customizing sequences of content objects in an educational content management system. In some implementations, educational content objects can be displayed. A first educational content object selection can be processed. A content object sequence can be generated or updated and the first educational content object can be added to the content object sequence. A second educational content object can be added to the content object sequence. The content object sequence can be shared with a user of an enterprise learning system.

Customizing sequences of content objects

Content deployment systems and methods are provided for integrating and deploying selected content items in a web content publishing process. A first content source can manage and store a plurality of first content items for potential inclusion in a specific release that is published as web content. Each content item can include one or more of: a set of directions for rendering web content and actual content that is rendered as web content. A content publishing module can store a manifest record that specifies release items that are allowed to be part of the specific release, and receive a content package object, from the first content source, that includes the first content items. It can then extract selected ones of first content items that are specified in the manifest record, and add them into a release object so that they are included as part of the specific release.

Computer-implemented methods and systems are provided for writing events to a data store. An application server generates events, the data store that stores the events, and a temporary events file storage system (TEFSS) temporarily stores groups of events as events files. When events are unable to be written directly to the data store, an indirect events writer is invoked that includes event capture threads each being configured to generate a particular events file, and write it to the TEFSS. Each events file includes a plurality of events flushed from an in-memory buffer service. An events file uploader service reads the events file(s) from the TEFSS, and then writes the events from each of the events files to the data store.

A database system may determine that a database is unavailable to generate an identifier for an event or that events may not be written to the database. As a result, the database system may write the event to a low-latency, supplementary file system. The database system may determine that the database is available at a later time, and read the event from the supplementary file system, store the event in a memory component, and then delete the event from the supplementary file system. The database system may then access the database to generate an identifier for the event, write the event to the database, and then delete the event from the memory component.

In some implementations, a server of a database system accesses a metadata file indicating algorithms that can be applied to data of log files.
