A frequency-domain representation of each filter partition can be provided, wherein each frequency-domain representation of a filter partition comprises N frequency bins and a corresponding frequency-domain filter coefficient, wherein each respective frequency bin can be represented by a corresponding index, n. The memory can store such information in an arrangement suitable for the processor to concurrently receive sufficient information to concurrently convolve a frame of each input signal with the respective filters.

An exemplary method of enhancing pitch of an audio signal presented to a cochlear implant patient includes 1) determining a frequency spectrum of an audio signal presented to a cochlear implant patient, the frequency spectrum comprising a plurality of frequency bins that each contain spectral energy, 2) generating a modified spectral envelope of the frequency spectrum of the audio signal, 3) identifying each frequency bin included in the plurality of frequency bins that contains spectral energy above the modified spectral envelope and each frequency bin included in the plurality of frequency bins that contains spectral energy below the modified spectral envelope, 4) enhancing the spectral energy contained in each frequency bin identified as containing spectral energy above the modified spectral envelope, and 5) compressing the spectral energy contained in each frequency bin identified as containing spectral energy below the modified spectral envelope. Corresponding methods and systems are also disclosed.

An approach and device for optimizing a sound system by extracting a two-channel stereo source out of a set of multiple channels with unknown frequency responses, crosstalk, time delays and sample rate by employing a digital test sequence that utilizes maximum-length-sequences (MLS) that is fed into the sound system and results in a reconstructed stereo source that may be further used as an input to a signal processor that performs improved speaker and room equalization.

A frequency equalization system is provided that substantially equalizes the room frequency responses generated by at least one loudspeaker within a listening area so that the frequency responses in the listening area are substantially constant and flat within a desired frequency range with minimum signal latency. The system employs an algorithm that is a closed-form, non-iterative, mathematical solution and features short computation time with reduced delays.
