A bolt assembly for securing a passive door panel relative to an entryway frame. The bolt assembly has a base to be fixedly mounted relative to the passive door panel, a catch attached to the base with a leaf spring to deflect relative to the base, and a bolt which is able to translate relative to the base between a retracted position and an extended position for securing the passive door panel. The bolt is biased toward the extended position and selectively maintained in the retracted position by the catch.

A multipoint lock is described. The multipoint lock includes a main latch. The main latch has a latched position where the main latch is configured to extend a first distance from an unhinged edge of a door panel. The main latch is configured to be retractable toward the unhinged edge of the door panel by rotation of a latch drive hub in each of a clockwise direction and a counterclockwise direction relative to a first side of the door panel. The multipoint lock also includes at least one auxiliary latch and a deadbolt drive hub. Rotation of the deadbolt drive hub substantially simultaneously actuates the main latch and the at least one auxiliary latch.

A method of operating a door system includes sensing a user on an exterior side of a door panel in physical propinquity to the lock such that the lock transitions from a sleep state to an active state, authenticating the user when the lock is in the active state before converting the lock from a locked configuration to an unlocked configuration, and converting the lock from the locked configuration to the unlocked configuration in response to transition to the active state. Authenticating the user includes receiving an authentication signal from a remote device on the user in physical propinquity to the to the lock.

The assembly may be a door frame assembly and may, by way of example, be a door jamb and/or a door mullion including a door sill. In other embodiments, a door sill includes a base component having a slot, a deck component having a segment, and wherein the segment component press-fits within the slot to adjoin the base component and the deck component. Some inventions of the present disclosure may be considered a door sill having a press-fit removable deck.

A door panel for use in a residential entryway includes a frame having a first stile, a second stile, a top rail connecting the first stile to the second stile, and a bottom rail connecting the first stile to the second stile. The door panel also includes a pair of opposing skins on respective faces of the frame. The first stile includes a channel along a length thereof on an interior longitudinal surface of the first stile. A method of operating a door system includes receiving a signal from a pressure sensor disposed in a sill or a frame of the door system, authenticating the user after receiving the signal, shifting the lock from a locked configured to an unlocked configuration in response to receiving the signal after authenticating the user, and moving the door panel from a closed position to an ajar position in response to receiving the signal.

A multipoint lock for securing a door panel is described. The multipoint lock includes a first latch, a second latch, a first hub rotatable with at least one of a thumb-turn knob or a key, and a second hub rotatable with a handle lever. Upward rotation of the handle lever causes both rotation of the first hub and rotation of the second hub in the same rotational direction.

Door sill system, apparatus and methods for a door assembly

Retainers for use within an astragal assembly as described. The astragal assembly has an astragal body with a major axis. The astragal assembly is for use in a double door entryway unit. The retainers include a retention portion configured to engage an entryway component and a mounting portion configured for placement onto the astragal body in a direction normal to the major axis. The retention portion is either a void for receiving at least one of a latch and a deadbolt, or the retention portion is a bolt pin configured to engage an entryway frame.
