A drive system for a pump includes a housing and a fluid displacer and a reciprocator configured to mechanically displace the fluid displacer through respective suction strokes. The housing and fluid displacer define an internal pressure chamber configured to be filled with a working fluid having a charge pressure. The internal pressure chamber is configured such that the working fluid exerts the charge pressure on the fluid displacer during both the suction stroke and a pressure stroke of the fluid displacer.

Drive system for a positive displacement pump

Modular mechanically driven diaphragm pump features are presented herein. Such a diaphragm pump can include a motor, a drive mechanism, and a coupling mounted on a wheeled frame. A diaphragm pump can be mounted to the coupling by forming mechanical static and dynamic connections to brace a housing of the diaphragm pump relative to a drive rod which is moved by the drive mechanism to operate the pump. These mechanical static and dynamic connections can be broken to dismount the pump for replacement or servicing. In some cases, a gas charge can be introduced on the non-working fluid side of the diaphragm to boost performance and/or a dampener can be integrated into the housing of the diaphragm pump and mounted/dismounted with the diaphragm pump.

Mechanically driven modular diaphragm pump

A drive system for a pump includes a housing, first and second fluid displacement members, and a reciprocating member configured to mechanically displace the first and second fluid displacement members through respective suction strokes. The housing and fluid displacement members define an internal pressure chamber configured to be filled with a working fluid having a charge pressure. The internal pressure chamber is configured such that the working fluid simultaneously exerts the charge pressure on the first and second fluid displacement members.

Mechanical tubular diaphragm pump features are presented herein. Such a tubular pump can include a resilient tube having a lumen and a pair of upstream and downstream check valves located along the same fluid pathway as the lumen. The tubular pump further includes a motorized reciprocating unit and a depressor configured to be moved by the motorized reciprocating unit to cyclically depress and release the resilient tube. The resilient tube forces fluid within the lumen downstream past the downstream check valve as the resilient tube is depressed by the depressor, and further pulls upstream fluid past the upstream check valve and into the lumen as the resilient tube returns upon release by the depressor. Multiple resilient tubes may be used in the same pump. The tube(s), depressor, and valves may be attached to a housing that is modularly removable from the motorized reciprocating unit.

This disclosure concerns a check valve that prevents over compression of a gasket. The check valve comprises a valve housing, a valve cover, and a gasket that seals between the valve housing and the valve cover. A ball fits within the valve housing. The check valve further comprises a ball stop that limits compression of the gasket as the valve cover is tightened with respect to the valve housing. The ball stop serves as a standoff between the valve housing and the valve cover that allows some compression of the gasket as the valve cover is tightened with respect to the valve housing, but at some degree of tightening the incompressible engages both the valve cover and the valve housing to prevent further tightening. Over-compression distorts the gaskets, possibly compromising its sealing function and possibly damaging the gasket.

A drive system for a pump includes a housing defining an internal pressure chamber, a working fluid disposed within and charging the internal pressure chamber, and a reciprocating member disposed within the internal pressure chamber. The reciprocating member has a pull chamber. A pull is secured within the pull chamber, and a fluid displacement member is coupled to the pull.

A method of displacing fluid includes pulling a pump displacement member through a suction stroke with a pull, the pull configured to transmit only tensile forces to the fluid displacement member. The pull is prevented from transmitting any compressive forces to the fluid displacement member, such that the pull does not drive the fluid displacement member through the pumping stroke.

A muffler for a positive displacement pneumatic motor includes a case, an inlet, a diffuser, a pathway, and sound absorbing material. The inlet and the diffuser are attached to the case. The pathway extends between the inlet and the diffuser and allows ice to travel through the muffler. The sound absorbing material is positioned in the pathway and includes more than one duct through which gas passes.

An air-driven dual diaphragm pump comprises a pump body with a first air passage leading to a first air cavity with a first diaphragm, a second air passage leading to a second air cavity with a second diaphragm, and a reciprocating shaft which connects the first and second diaphragms. A diaphragm installation tool for the dual diaphragm pump comprises a plate which fits atop the pump body. A groove in a surface of the plate opposite from and nonadjacent to the pump body extends from the location of the first air passage to the location of the second air passage. A hole located within the groove at the location of either the first air passage or the second air passage extends through the plate. Pressurized air entering the pump body is redirected by the groove and the hole to always enter the first air passage, rather than the second, thereby slowly filling the first air cavity and positioning the second diaphragm for installation.
