Techniques for generating a geological model from 3D seismic data and rock property data are disclosed. Rock property data and 3D seismic data are received. Based on the rock property data and the 3D seismic data, an adaptive geological model is generated. The adaptive geological model includes a characteristic geological property. Synthetic seismic data is generated from a first region of interest of the adaptive geological model. The synthetic seismic data is adapted to facilitate a comparison between the first region of interest and a corresponding region of interest of the received 3D seismic data. The characteristic geological property is adjusted until the comparison indicates a result that is within a predetermined threshold region of the corresponding value from the rock properties. A validated geologic model is then generated.

Method for validating geological model data over corresponding original seismic data

A method for enhancing visual representation of a geologic feature in 3D seismic survey data, comprising the steps of: (a) generating a plurality of first attribute volumes, each comprising at least one characterising attribute, derivable from said 3D seismic data and different from the characterising attributes of any one of the other said plurality of first attribute volumes; (b) generating a plurality of filtered attribute volumes for each one of said plurality of first attribute volumes, utilizing a plurality of distinct filter settings at each one of said at least one characterising attribute; (c) generating a composite attribute volume by selectively combining one or more of said plurality of filtered attribute volumes so as to maximise visual detectability of said geologic feature.

Data-driven, interpreter guided visual enhancement of geologic features in 3D seismic survey data

Visually enhancing a geological feature in 3D seismic survey data may include selecting a first seismic trace from a 3D seismic survey dataset. Said first seismic trace is subdivided into a plurality of identified characteristic segments. At least one first analytical model function is generated for each of said plurality of identified characteristic segments. At least one adapted wavelet from an existing dictionary is utilized. A matching characteristic is determined between said first seismic trace and said at least one first analytical model function. Said at least one first analytical model function is optimized with respect to said matching characteristic. Both determining a matching characteristic, and optimizing said at least one first analytical model function, are repeated until a predetermined condition is met. A model dataset is generated from said optimized at least one first analytical model function for at least part of said first seismic trace for visual representation.

Enhanced visualization of geologic features in 3D seismic survey data using high definition frequency decomposition (HDFD)

The present invention describes a method for adaptively determining a plurality of sedimentary facies from 3D seismic data, comprising the steps of (a) generating an attribute volume comprising at least one attribute from said 3D seismic data; (b) generating at least one frequency decomposition color blend volume from said 3D seismic data; (c) generating a data volume comprising at least one geological object utilizing data from said attribute volume and said frequency decomposition color blend volume; (d) generating a facies classification model dataset for a predetermined region of interest of said 3D seismic data applying a probabilistic algorithm and utilizing data from said geobody volume and said frequency decomposition color blend volume; (e) selectively adjusting at least one first model parameter, so as to optimize said facies classification model dataset in accordance with a conceptual geological model; and (f) selectively providing said facies classification model dataset in a representative property model of said region of interest of said 3D seismic data.

Method for determining sedimentary facies using 3D seismic data

A method of visually enhancing at least one geologic feature in 3D seismic survey data, comprising the steps of: (a) generating at least one attribute volume definable in Cartesian space and comprising at least one attribute derivable from said 3D seismic survey data; (b) generating a first Radon data volume from data resulting from a transaxial Radon Transform of said at least one attribute volume with respect to a first Cartesian axis; (c) generating a second Radon data volume from data resulting from a transaxial Radon Transform of said first Radon data volume with respect to a second Cartesian axis; (d) generating a third Radon data volume from data resulting from exponentiating a characteristic parameter of each one of a plurality of voxels forming said second Radon data volume to a predetermined first power value, and (e) applying a first Inverse Radon Transform to said third Radon data volume with respect to said second Cartesian axis, and a subsequent second Inverse Radon Transform to the resulting data from said first Inverse Radon Transform with respect to said first Cartesian axis.
