Methods and systems are described for using files or data (e.g., cookies) stored in network storage (e.g., the cloud) in lieu of files or data stored locally. A request for a plurality of files can be received from a device. The request can comprise a device identifier and a user identifier. The user identifier can be used to determine an associated account. A format for the requested plurality of files can be determined based on the device identifier. In an aspect, the device can have limited/no local persistent storage. Prior to transmission, the requested plurality of files can be formatted according to the determined format. For example, a user can access an HTML application from a device with limited/no local persistent storage, such as a set-top box. The device can request a plurality of files, such as cookies, from persistent storage. The persistent storage can be cloud storage.

Methods and systems for providing persistent storage

Provided are methods and systems related to communications between a social media service or provider (e.g., Twitter&#xae;, Facebook&#xae;) or other resource (e.g., web page) and one or more content providers. In an aspect, provided are methods comprising receiving a request for content, wherein the request comprises a user agnostic identifier, determining user information associated with the request, determining time information associated with the request, determining media content associated with the user agnostic identifier based on the time information, determining one or more access rights to the media content based on the user information, and providing access to the media content based on the one or more access rights.

Managing access rights to content using social media

Provided are methods and systems related to communications between a social media service or provider (e.g., Twitter&#xae;, Facebook&#xae;) or other resource (e.g., web page) and one or more content providers. In an aspect, provided are methods, comprising receiving user information and a user agnostic identifier, providing an access element configured to provide access to content from a content provider based on the user information and the user agnostic identifier, receiving, from the content provider, a notification indicative of a user interaction with the content based on a user accessing the content, and tracking user behavior based on at least one of the user information, the user agnostic identifier, the access element, and the notification.

Tracking content use via social media

A system and method are described for allowing users to forward a media content experience, such as an Internet site, to another computing device. The system may allow the user to select individual portions and elements of the site for forwarding, to customize the level and type of experience being forwarded. The selection of portions and elements may be made based on the capabilities of the other computing device, and the forwarding may be simultaneously made to multiple other devices, each with potentially different combinations of the portions and elements of the site. In some embodiments, a text message link service may be offered by a content ingestion computing device, whereby a user may simply text an address of a site to be forwarded, and in response the user may receive a text message containing a link to the content ingestion computing device with a parameter identifying the site to be forwarded.
