A flow tube is axially moveable within an actuator body between a first axial position and a second axial position for actuating a downhole tool, such as for closing a subsurface safety valve. The flow tube includes an interior flow bore for conveying fluids from the tubing string through the actuator body. An external flow tube profile defined on the flow tube includes an upper shoulder for engagement with a wiper in the first axial position, a lower shoulder for engagement with the wiper in the second axial position, and a clearance path between the upper and lower shoulders for allowing viscous flow past the wiper when the flow tube is moved between the first and second axial positions.

A wellbore system comprising an autofill and circulation assembly comprising a housing defining a flowbore and comprising a first port and a second port, and a first sleeve slidable within the housing from a first position to a second position and from the second position to a third position, when the first sleeve is in the first position, the assembly allows fluid communication from an exterior of the housing to the flowbore via the first port and does not allow fluid communication from the flowbore to the exterior of the housing via the first port, when the first sleeve is in the second position, the assembly allows bidirectional fluid communication between the exterior of the housing and the flowbore via the second port, and, when the first sleeve is in the third position, the assembly disallows fluid communication between the exterior of the housing and the flowbore.

Autofill and circulation assembly and method of using the same

A sliding sleeve apparatus that has a flow inhibitor that slows the fluid flow between the interior passageway of the sliding sleeve and the well annulus to allow pressure equalization between the interior passageway of the sliding sleeve and the well annulus to occur prior to placing the sliding sleeve in a fully open position. The inhibited or restricted fluid flow reduces wear on the seals and other components of the sliding sleeve, which extends the operative life of the tool.

A flow control assembly includes a housing defining flow port that place an interior of the housing in fluid communication with an exterior of the housing, and a sliding sleeve defining sleeve ports and movably positioned within the interior between a first position, where fluid communication between the interior and the exterior via the flow ports is prevented, and a second positon, where fluid communication between the interior and the exterior is facilitated through the sleeve ports and the flow ports. A piston and a slip device are movably arranged within a piston chamber defined between the housing and the sliding sleeve. The piston has a first end exposed to an interior pressure and a second end exposed to an exterior pressure via chamber ports defined in the housing. A biasing device is also positioned within the piston chamber.

Resettable sliding sleeve for downhole flow control assemblies

An autonomous valve includes a fluid-sensitive actuator operable to automatically actuate the valve in response to being exposed to a target fluid. The target fluid may be a fluid whose presence is generally undesirable in a production fluid, such as water, and the valve may be actuated to stop flow from an interval within a wellbore that is no longer expected to produce hydrocarbon-bearing fluids. The valve further includes a protective layer disposed between the fluid inlet and the fluid-sensitive actuator, the protective layer being insoluble in the target fluid. The fluid-sensitive actuator may include a swellable piston that swells to actuate the valve in the presence of the target fluid, a soluble plug that isolates a hydraulic, closing piston until the soluble plug is dissolved into the target fluid, and an electromechanical actuator that closes the valve in response to detecting the target fluid using an electronic sensor.

Disclosed is reclosable sleeve assembly including a housing defining one or more flow ports that provide fluid communication between a wellbore annulus and an interior of the housing, an outer sleeve arranged within the housing and movable between a closed position, where the outer sleeve occludes the one or more flow ports, and an open position, where the one or more flow ports are exposed, and an inner sleeve concentrically arranged within the outer sleeve and defining a plurality of flow slots, the inner sleeve being movable between an open position and a closed position where, when in the open position, the plurality of flow slots are axially aligned with the one or more flow ports.

Reclosable sleeve assembly and methods for isolating hydrocarbon production

Disclosed are systems and methods for mechanically reclosing a hydraulically actuated sliding side door of a sleeve assembly. One sleeve assembly includes a housing defining one or more flow ports, a sliding sleeve arranged within the housing and movable between a closed position and an open position and back to the closed position, wherein, when in the closed position, the outer sleeve occludes the one or more flow ports, and, when in the open position, the one or more flow ports are exposed. A piston is movably arranged within a piston bore defined in the housing, and a locking mechanism is arranged within the piston bore and configured to engage the piston with the sliding sleeve, thereby allowing the piston to move the sliding sleeve to the open position.
