A pressure wave is generated within a first well extending into a subterranean formation. A pressure response associated with the pressure wave is detected from a second well extending into the formation. Information is then determined, based on the pressure response in the second well, wherein the information is associated with at least one of the formation and a fracture connected to at least one of the first well and the second well.

Tube wave analysis of well communication

Systems and methods presented herein facilitate coiled tubing operations, and generally relate to wirelessly configuring bottom hole assemblies (BHAs) for use in coiled tubing well operations. For example, certain embodiments of the present disclosure include a method that includes wirelessly communicatively coupling at least one user computing device to a wireless access point of a wireless access module of a BHA. The method also includes wirelessly receiving one or more command signals from the at least one user computing device via the wireless access point of the wireless access module of the BHA. The method further includes adjusting one more operating settings or procedures of one or more downhole tool components of the BHA based at least in part on the one or more command signals.

Wirelessly-configurable bottom hole assemblies

A technique facilitates mixing of fluids for use in well treatment operations. According to an embodiment, a dry powder material, e.g. a friction reducer, may be thoroughly mixed into fluid or fluids associated with a well treatment operation. The powder material is combined with liquid, e.g. water, via a series of Venturi mixers arranged to thoroughly mix the materials. In some applications, the Venturi mixers are mounted on a modular unit which is readily moved to a desired wellsite. Additional modular units may be added to increase the amount of product being mixed according to the demands of a given well treatment operation, e.g. a hydraulic fracturing operation.

System and methodology for mixing materials at a wellsite

Cement slurries are prepared that comprise water, a hydraulic cement and particles of an oil-absorbent material. The particles are present in an amount sufficient to alter a property of a non-aqueous drilling fluid. The cement slurry is placed in a subterranean well, whereupon the slurry contacts residual drilling fluid on casing and formation surfaces. The oil-absorbent material in the cement slurry may reduce the mobility of the drilling fluid, thereby improving zonal isolation.

A system includes a hydraulic fracturing system including a tank having a slurry and an injector line, where the injector line is disposed between a high-pressure pump and a treatment line to fluidly couple to a wellhead. The system includes a plurality of valves disposed adjacent to the injector line and a control system communicatively coupled to the plurality of valves. The control system fluidly isolates the injector line using the plurality of valves, fills the injector line with an amount of the slurry using a first valve of the plurality of valves, and injects the slurry into the treatment line using a second valve of the plurality of valves.

Systems and methods for injecting fluids into high pressure injector line

A pressure wave system having a tubular member, a signal source, a sensor, and a source of noise, has a noise interference system employing one or more a lateral branches to cancel pressure noise, and/or amplify or filter the pressure wave signal. A related method generates the pressure wave signal, connects the lateral branch or branches to amplify or filter the signal and/or cancel noise from the system, and receives the signal or a response of the system to the signal. The lateral branches are simple pipe stubs or loops that can be made using ordinary piping components, or are more complex designs.

Noise reduction for tubewave measurements

A method moves a tube wave reflector in a well, generates a tube wave, receives a reflection, and determines the depth of one or more reflector locations from the elapsed time. Also, a method to locate a feature in a well deploys a bottom hole assembly (BHA), generates acoustic noise from the BHA, and autocorrelates to determine the BHA depth. Also, a system has a coiled tubing string to a BHA, a surface wave generator, a surface and/or distributed receiver, and a recorder to determine elapsed times between generation and receipt.

Moving system

A method to generate a tube wave in a tubular system involves reciprocating a plunger in a chamber system to alternatingly increase and decrease net volume, drawing fluid from and returning the fluid to a tubular system and into and from the chamber system, to generate a tube wave, and guiding the tube wave to the tubular system. Also, a tube wave generator-sensor system has a chamber system, a plunger, a driver to reciprocate the plunger within the chamber system to generate a tube wave, a flow passage to guide the tube wave into a tubular system, and a sensor to receive the tube wave signal and/or response from the tubular system. The method and system can work with or without a firing valve and or accumulator, without adding or subtracting fluid from the tubular system.
