A phototherapy device, system, and method for treating acne and/or acne scarring, includes a light emitting device configured and arranged to emit light from a bottom surface thereof; and an attachment portion having an aperture therethrough configured to permit light through. The attachment portion is configured to retain the device to a user's skin and bathe the skin with phototherapeutic light from the light emitter. Attachment of the device may be preceded with the application of synergistic fluid, ointment, gel, cream, lotion, foam, soap, or other solutions which may or may not consist of known topical acne treatment agents, augment device attachment to the skin, and/or have photodynamic properties. The light emitted may be any wavelength, combinations of wavelengths, intensity, pulse frequency, and exposure duration.

A light-emitting, antimicrobial tuber, instrument or catheter includes a thin, flexible tube having an optically transparent wall; and a light transmitter configured and arranged to emit light through the tube, which may be ultraviolet C (UVC) irradiation, photodynamic therapy (PDT), violet-blue light therapy, and other light-based therapies. In one embodiment, violet-blue light from 400-500 nm in wavelength, such as 405 nm, for instance, is used. The device is used on a patient and a therapeutic amount of light is administered to the patient, thereby reducing the risk of infections being transmitted from the instrument, tube or catheter to the patient, generally. The device may be configured for use in the urinary tract or as intravascular, and may be indwelling or temporary. Light may be administered for the duration of use or another time period effective to halt, inhibit, or reduce microbial or fungal growth.

An antimicrobial light dressing device, system and method for a percutaneous treatment that bathes a treatment region around the percutaneous insertion with an antibacterial illumination source for preventing pathogens around the insertion from entering via the dermal puncture created by the insertion. The antimicrobial light dressing device combines a circumferential body centered around the insertion, and an arrangement of LEDs around the body that focus the light around the insertion and onto a therapeutic region of the insertion. An opening in the circumferential body has an articulated protrusion for offsetting a medicinal vessel such as an IV tube off the skin surface to avoid blocking light to an area under the vessel.

Antimicrobial light-emitting percutaneous site dressing

Phototherapy devices for the treatment of truncal acne and scars include, for example, a body portion having a bottom surface and a top surface that is configured to hang on a person's shoulders and cover the upper back and/or chest. The body portion further having left and right shoulder portions extending forwardly from the body portion and curled downwardly to hook over a person's shoulders. The shoulder portions further define a space for a person's neck therebetween. A phototherapy lighting component is configured to emit a light from the bottom surface of the body portion and forwardly extending shoulder portions. In use, the person places the shoulder portions on their shoulders with the body portion hanging downwardly against the person's back or chest, for example, wearing the body portion like a cape or bib. Using the lighting component, a therapeutic amount of light is administered to the person.
