Apparatus, systems, and methods provide access to the renal pelvis of a kidney to treat renal nerves embedded in tissue surrounding the renal pelvis. Access to the renal pelvis may be via the urinary tract or via minimally invasive incisions through the abdomen and kidney tissue. Treatment is effected by exchanging energy, typically delivering heat or extracting heat through a wall of the renal pelvis, or by delivering active substances to ablate a thin layer of tissue lining at least a portion of the renal pelvis to disrupt renal nerves within the tissue lining of the renal pelvis.

Methods and systems for ablation of the renal pelvis

The present invention relates to surgical clamps and clamp devices that provide a handle-free surgical field and to methods of operating such clamps and clamp devices. Such methods may include moving a second rotating element relative to a first rotating element such that the rotational axis of the second rotating element is not parallel to the rotational axis of the first rotating element and rotating the first rotating element about the rotational axis of the first rotating element to cause rotation of the second rotating element about the rotational axis of the second rotating element. The rotation of the second rotating element causes translation of a first actuation element along the rotational axis of the second rotating element. The translation of the first actuation element causes pivotal motion of the first jaw portion towards the second jaw portion. Other methods and devices are provided.

Handleless clamping device

A target peripheral nerve is treated by providing a real-time fluorescent image of a tissue region where the target peripheral nerve has an enhanced appearance in the fluorescent image. A treatment element is advanced from an adjacent body lumen or cavity through the tissue region or externally aimed toward the peripheral nerve while viewing the fluorescent image, and the peripheral nerve is treated using the treatment element.

A surgical instrument comprises a spacer element comprising a proximal region and a distal region, an end effector coupled to a distal end of the spacer element, a user hand interface at a proximal end of the spacer element, and a securing element for securing the proximal end of the spacer element to a user wrist. The user hand interface comprises an elongate member including a lumen and extending from a distal end to a proximal end of the user hand interface. The user hand interface further comprises an actuation cable extending within the lumen from the distal end to the proximal end of the user hand interface. The proximal region of the spacer element comprises a curved portion extending from the user hand interface. The user hand interface is movable in a manipulation space proximal of the distal region and distal of the proximal end of the spacer element.

Articulating retractors

A method comprises rotating a first rotating element to cause rotation of a second rotating element and restricting, by an elongate slot of a first body portion and a pin affixed to a second body portion, a range of rotational motion of first and second jaw portions of a medical instrument. The first jaw portion is coupled to the second jaw portion by the first body portion and the second body portion. The rotation of the second rotating element causes translation of a first actuation element along a rotational axis of the second rotating element. The translation of the first actuation element causes pivotal motion of the first jaw portion towards the second jaw portion about a single pivot pin. The elongate slot of the first body portion and the pin affixed to the second body portion are positioned between the second rotating element and the single pivot pin.

The outer cover () has a first gripping member () to facilitate removal of the outer cover () from the hub (). A sealing member () is removably connected to the outer cover (). The sealing member () has a second gripping member () to facilitate removal of the sealing member () from the outer cover (). The first and second gripping members facilitate manipulation of the pen needle by a user with reduced dexterity or a physical or visual impairment.

A pen needle hub and cover for a pen needle assembly that provides tactile and/or audible indicia of proper attachment between the hub of the pen needle and the pen is provided. Such indicia substantially prevent under- and over-torquing of the pen needle. The tactile indicia may include a user sensing a wave of a torque of peak value followed by a torque of lesser value.

The present invention relates to surgical clamps and clamp devices that provide a handle-free surgical field. The clamp jaws may be opened or closed by a rotationally or translationally moveable drive element that may be actuated from a position proximal or distal to the jaws. The surgical clamps may also be deployed using a clamp applier which slidably engages the clamp along a wire to releasably attach itself to the clamp.

The present invention provides an articulating retractor including: a plurality of distal segments, a distal segment of the plurality of distal segments being movable relative to others of the plurality of distal segments; a plurality of proximal segments, a proximal segment of the plurality of proximal segments being movable relative to others of the plurality of proximal segments, the proximal segment corresponding to the distal segment; and multiple sets of cables, the proximal segment connected to its corresponding unit of the distal segment, by a set of cables, such that movement of the proximal segment causes corresponding reciprocal movement of the distal segment. The mechanisms of the articulating retractor may also be combined in such a way to remotely mimic finger movements for manipulation of an object or body tissue.

The invention provides an articulating mechanism useful, for example, for remote manipulation of various surgical instruments and diagnostic tools within, or to, regions of the body. Movement of segments at the proximal end of the mechanism results in a corresponding, relative movement of segments at the distal end of the mechanism. The proximal and distal segments are connected by a set of cables in such a fashion that each proximal segment forms a discrete pair with a distal segment. This configuration allows each segment pair to move independently of one another and also permits the articulating mechanism to undergo complex movements and adopt complex configurations. The articulating mechanisms may also be combined in such a way to remotely mimic finger movements for manipulation of an object or body tissue.

Methods and devices for creating a seal in a vessel for performing multiple anastomoses. The device includes an expandable region at the shaft assembly distal end with a sealing membrane that spans the expandable region, and a corresponding clamping member moveable toward the expandable region. Once inserted into the vessel lumen the expandable region is deployed from a first low-profile position into a second expanded position, and positioned at the target site of the anastomoses. Movement of the distal end of the clamping member, which remains located outside the vessel, against the expanded region creates a seal at the target site allowing a blood-free, graft site area that is large enough to accommodate multiples anastomoses.
