User interface and user experience for a vaporizer device

A vaporizer cartridge configured to efficiently and effectively heat a non-liquid source material that includes a vaporizable material is described. The cartridge may include a heating element including an electrically resistive material and may be configured to vaporize the vaporizable material by delivery of heat to the vaporizable material. The cartridge may include a cartridge contact in electrical communication with the electrically resistive material. The cartridge contact may be configured to couple to a vaporizer contact positioned proximate to a cartridge coupling feature to allow electrical power to pass from the vaporizer device through the electrically resistive material. The electrical power may cause heating of the electrically resistive material and the vaporizable material to result in generation of an aerosol for inhalation by a user. Related systems, methods, and articles of manufacture are also described.

Vaporizers and vaporizer systems, which can include a user device in communication with a vaporizer, can include one or more features related to control of functions and/or features of the vaporizer. A method for locking a vaporizer is provided. The method includes determining whether a vaporizer is within a communication range of a second device. The method further includes locking the vaporizer in response to the vaporizer being within the communication range. The method further includes receiving information associated with a user of the vaporizer. The method further includes determining, based on the received information, an age of the user and unlocking, by the one or more processors and based on the age of the user satisfying a threshold, the vaporizer to activate the operation of the vaporizer.

An apparatus includes a housing including a power source; a reservoir including an inlet, an outlet, and configured to contain vaporizable material and couple to the housing; and a PTCR heating element configured to electrically couple to the power source and heat the vaporizable material to form an aerosol. The PTCR heating element includes an electrical resistivity that varies based on temperature. The electrical resistivity includes an electrical resistivity transition zone including an increase in electrical resistivity over a temperature range such that, when the PTCR heating element is heated to a first temperature within the transition zone, current flow from the power source is reduced to a level that limits further temperature increases of the PTCR heating element. Vaporizer cartridges and vaporizer apparatuses, and methods for making, using and delivering vapor to a user, that are leak-resistant for use with cannabinoids. Vaporization devices, components, and methods of operating the same are described. In some implementations, an apparatus includes a cartridge comprising an aerosol outlet, a fluid storage compartment, a resistive heating element, and first and second cartridge electrical contacts, and a device body comprising a power supply, a receptacle, first and second device electrical contacts, and a controller. When the receptacle at least partially receives the cartridge in two different orientations, the first and second device electrical contacts are configured to couple the first and second cartridge electrical contacts, and the controller is configured to provide power from the power supply to the resistive heating element.

Methods and vaporizer apparatuses that estimate, measure and/or predict the amount of vapor and/or material (including active ingredients) released by the vaporizer apparatus. In particular, described herein are electronic vaporizers and methods of using them that determine a dose/amount of vapor and/or a material in the vapor based primarily or exclusively on the electrical and thermal properties, e.g., power or energy applied to the vaporizing element (e.g., heating coil) and the temperature of the material immediately before and as it is vaporized. Dose information may be used to control operation of the device and/or reported to the user.

Various embodiments of a vaporization device are described that include one or more features, such as for generating a combined inhalable aerosol. In some embodiments, the vaporization device can include one or more heaters that are configured to heat one or more vaporizable materials. Vaporizer device with more than one heating element

A vaporizer device includes a housing including an air inlet, a heating element within the housing and a heat exchanger. The heating element includes a nonlinear positive temperature coefficient of resistance material. The heat exchanger is thermally coupled to the heating element and arranged to receive airflow from the air inlet. The heat exchanger is configured to transfer heat between the heating element and the airflow to produce a heated airflow. The heated airflow exiting the heat exchanger is configured to vaporize a vaporizable material. Related apparatus, systems, techniques and articles are also described.

A system for aerosolization of compartmentalized materials is provided. In some implementations, the system performs operations comprising vaporizing, by a heater, at least a portion of a first material to form a first vapor, wherein the first material is stored in a reservoir coupled to the heater. The operations can further comprise providing, through a draw channel comprising the heater, the first vapor to a second material within the draw channel, wherein the second material comprises one or more of nicotine and an acid, wherein the second material is positioned between the resistive heater and an exit point of the draw channel. The operations can also include forming, based on the first vapor passing through and/or around the second material, an inhalable vapor. Related systems, methods, apparatuses, and articles of manufacture are also described.

Aerosol devices having compartmentalized materials

Vaporizer devices and methods for detecting inhalation through a vaporizer using a heating element are provided. A resistive heater of a vaporizer may function as both a heater and as an anemometer to detect inhalation. Alternatively or additionally, a separate resistive heater may be included in an air path through the vaporizer to detect a user inhaling through the vaporizer. A heating control mechanism utilizes the already existing heating element in an anemometric correlation to when the vaporizer is idle and when it is being used (where being used implies the user is taking a puff/inhalation on the vaporizer). Using this information, a controller of the vaporizer accordingly controls heating to the vaporizer as required.

A nicotine liquid formulation comprising nicotine, an acid, and a biologically acceptable liquid carrier, wherein heating an amount of said nicotine liquid formulation using low temperature electronic vaporization device, i.e., an electronic cigarette, generates an inhalable aerosol, and wherein at least about 50% of said acid in said amount is in said aerosol, and wherein at least about 90% of said nicotine in said amount is in said aerosol.
