The present invention pertains to a novel rotavirus, especially an isolated virus, which is a member of the sub-species of porcine group B rotavirus (porcine RVB), causing diarrheal disease in pigs, to DNA fragments and corresponding proteins of the said virus, to vaccines on the basis of said virus, DNA and/or protein and to antibodies reactive with said virus and/or protein and diagnostic test kits for the detection of said virus.

Porcine rotavirus

The present invention relates to the use of a diluent for the in-use stabilisation of cells infected with a cell-associated alphaherpesvirus. Contrary to the long-standing practice of incorporating a considerable amount of peptone into the diluent for such virus-infected cells, it was found that a reduction of the amount of protein in the diluent improved the in-use stability of alphaherpesvirus-infected cells. Whereby the best stability was even obtained using a protein-free diluent. This effect was especially pronounced for recombinant HVT viruses expressing a heterologous insert. Being protein-free is highly advantageous for the production of the diluent, in respect of costs, safety, and consistency of production.

Diluent for cell-associated alphaherpesvirus vaccine

The present invention relates to a novel porcine pestivirus, to proteins of the virus and to vaccines based upon the virus and proteins thereof. The invention also relates to DNA fragments comprising a gene of the virus and to DNA vaccines based upon genes of the virus. Furthermore the invention relates to antibodies that are reactive with the novel virus and to diagnostic tests for the detection of the virus or antibodies against the virus.

Pestivirus

The present invention relates to a novel porcine parvovirus, to proteins of the virus and to vaccines based upon the virus and proteins thereof. The invention also relates to DNA fragments comprising a gene of the virus and to DNA vaccines based upon genes of the virus. Further the invention relates to antibodies that are reactive with the novel virus and to diagnostic tests for the detection of the virus or antibodies against the virus.
