A closable container is formed by a bottom tray having upwardly and outwardly flaring side wall and a cooperating gable-shaped top closure having side wall with a rear side wall of the top foldably interconnected with a rear side wall of the bottom tray along the length thereof. Flaps extending from the top front and rear walls connect these walls to their respective adjacent top side walls to form the gabled shaped top closure and are provided with extensions each of which projects away from the top wall of the top closure a distance farther than the free edge of the top side wall to which it is connected. These projections extend beyond the top edge of their adjacent bottom side walls and help to ensure proper alignment of the top closure and bottom tray. The front walls of the bottom tray and of the gabled top are formed respectively with an undercut and a cooperating tongue adapted to interact to hold the gabled top in close position over the bottom tray. Preferably, the bottom front wall in which the undercut is formed will extend further above the bottom wall of the tray than the other side walls of the tray and free edge of the front top wall of the gabled top will be received within the projecting portion and the undercut will be formed in the projecting portion to define a surface that the tongue lies against when the top is in close position.

Closable box

A closable tray is provided by a bottom tray having upwardly and outwardly flaring pairs of mutually perpendicular side walls. The side walls of one such pair is longer than the side walls of the other pair and is provided with tongue receiving slots positioned spaced from the bottom wall a distance substantially equal to the spacing of supporting surfaces provided along the top edge of the walls of the other pair of opposed walls. A cooperating cover is formed by a planer top member, two pairs of mutually opposed tongues projecting in opposite directions therefrom. The planer top member preferably is slightly convex on each of its sides and each of tongue members extend from the widest portion of its respective side of the top member. The tray and cover are dimensional so that one pair of opposed tongue member cooperates with the tongue slots and the other pair of tongue members are supported on the support surfaces of the bottom tray when the cover member closes the bottom tray.

Closable tray

A container having a first piece and a complementary second piece closable over the first is disclosed. Each container piece has a bottom wall and sidewalls having central portions which are connected to the bottom wall. Each of a first pair of opposite sidewalls of each piece has an upstanding tab portion extending from the top edge of its central portion. Each of a second pair of opposite sidewalls for each piece includes two spaced-apart upstanding portions for receiving an associated tab portion therebetween to interlock the container pieces. The opposing upstanding portions for each side wall each have a boss portion for engaging a side of the tab portion of a complementary piece.

Interlocking container for carry-out food products

A lamp wrapper is formed from a blank having four side wall panels and a joint forming flap interconnected by a set of spaced, substantially parallel fold lines and adapted to form a tubular sleeve. An axial central partition is formed by a partition flap formed in part from and foldably connected to a first top wall panel and adhesively connected at its opposite end to a second partition flap formed from and foldably connected to a second wall panel located on the opposite side of the wrapper to the first panel. The partition is evenly spaced from opposite longitudinal ends of the sleeve and functions to separate the base ends of a pair of light bulbs packaged in the sleeve. In a second embodiment the second wall panel is extended and is foldably connected to yet another wall panel which in turn is connected to a second top panel which connects to the first top panel and defines a second sleeve in side by side relationship with the first sleeve. A second partition flap and a second glue flap combine to form a second partition essentially the same as in the first sleeve but extending across the second sleeve.

Lamp wrapper and blank

A two piece container including a tray piece for holding an item and a cover piece adapted to telescopically fit over the tray is disclosed. Each container piece has a first wall and sidewalls which extend from and taper outwardly from the first wall. The sidewalls of the tray piece meet at corners which have cut-out sections to provide for inward flexibility of the tray sidewalls when the cover is fitted over the tray. A blank for forming the tray piece according to the present invention is also disclosed.

A container suitable for packaging food items such as hamburgers or fried chicken is disclosed. The container includes two complementary container pieces, namely a tray and a cover closable over the tray. Each piece has opposing sidewalls provided with tip portions which project longitudinally outwardly over the central portion of each adjacent sidewall without such tip portions to pass through a plane determined by the central portion of each such adjacent sidewalls. The tip portions of each complementary piece interlock to securely close the container.

Container for food products

Multi-layered corrugated containers having at least one flat side, have at least one foldable flap attached at the fold line to the flat side. In the past the fold line has been scored or crushed after the box is formed, and this represents an additional manufacturing step. The container includes a multi-layered sleeve with at least one flap on one end of the sleeve and a fold line separating the flap from the sleeve, the fold line having a strip with no corrugations therein permitting the flap to be bent about the fold line.

A mailer bag is fabricated from a rectilinear blank formed of paper, paperboard or the like and has two parallel score lines for folding, with one of the panels having a plurality of equally spaced, parallel cuts formed therein extending from one leading edge for a major portion of the length along the panel to a location near the opposite edge so that when folded over and glued, the uncut section serves to seal one end of the mailer. Glue is applied to alternate sites on the two end, or outer, panels so that when the cut end panel is folded over to meet with the center panel, and the other end panel is folded over on top of the other two panels, the cut panel sections will adhere in an alternating manner to the appropriate glued matching sections of the other two panels. The result is a mailer bag, open at one end, sealed at the opposite end, the walls of the mailer bag consisting of one of said panels and having adhered to the inside surface of each of said panel, a plurality, usually two, of equal sized, spaced apart sections of the cut panel.

This invention provides a container comprising an inner component and an outer component. The inner component includes a single or double open-ended sleeve of rectangular configuration. The outer component has a rectangular bottom panel, two end panels receivable within the sleeve, and side portions articulated to the other edges of the bottom panel and foldable between a closed position in which they at least partly cover the upper open ends of the sleeve, and an open position in which they uncover the upper open ends of the sleeve.

Two-piece shipping containers

Reinforced single-face corrugated fiberboard containers of remarkable strength are disclosed which can be mass produced at minimum cost in a high-speed continuous process from a continuous sheet of single-face corrugated material comprising a corrugated web adhesively secured to a single facing sheet having a width much greater than that of the web to provide outwardly extending fly portions of substantial width. The web forms the corrugated core of a single-wall laminated board formed by turning over the fly portions to reinforce the side edges and adhesively securing the fly portions to the corrugations to partially cover the core and to provide the board with double-faced side portions and an unreinforced single-faced middle portion. The laminated board can be passed through rotary cutting dies or the like in a high-speed continuous process to cut and form slotted box blanks having a first set of transverse fold lines dividing the blank into a series of rectangular wall panels, a second set of longitudinal fold lines extending the length of the fly portions, and a series of transverse slots extending from the latter fold lines to the outer side edges of the laminated board to define a series of pairs of double-faced end flaps for closing and reinforcing the opposite ends of the assembled box or carton. The invention also provides strong open-ended containers such as lids, trays and the like which can be produced much more economically than the standard double-faced corrugated products.
