There is set forth herein, in one embodiment, receiving, by a transceiver of a UE device an aggregate signal stream, the aggregate signal stream including an aggregate of base station downlink signal streams from a plurality of base stations; processing the aggregate signal stream and detecting, from the processing of the aggregate signal stream, a set of base stations in communication range of the UE device, wherein the set of base stations include a current serving base station and a scanning base station; determining, from the processing of the aggregate signal stream, a Doppler shifted center frequency of a downlink scanning signal stream received from the scanning base station; and enhancing, in dependence on the Doppler shifted center frequency, the downlink scanning signal stream associated to the scanning base station.

Methods, computer program products, and systems are presented. The method computer program products, and systems can include, for instance: examining one or more parameter characterizing a prospective connection of the mobile airborne article to first through Nth base stations, the one or more parameter including a Doppler shift; determining based on the examining that a criterion is satisfied, the criterion having one or more factor; and initiating handoff of the mobile airborne article to one of the first through Nth base stations based on the determining.

Interference mitigation in multi-antenna system

A method of estimating and compensating for Doppler frequency shifts includes providing an accurate reference device for generating an accurate reference frequency in a Doppler estimation and compensation (DEC) system, the DEC system being electrically connected to a user device. The DEC system receives one of a downlink signal from a base station and an uplink signal from the user device. The one of the downlink signal and the uplink signal is compared to the accurate reference frequency. An estimate of a Doppler frequency shift associated with the one of the downlink signal and the uplink signal is determined. An offset Doppler frequency shift of opposite sign as the Doppler frequency shift is added to the one of the downlink signal and uplink signal to provide a compensated signal. The compensated signal is transmitted to one of the base station and user device.

Doppler estimation and compensation for wireless communication systems

Various embodiments of the present invention relate to wireless network management. One specific example relates to efficient radio frequency (RF) spectrum management involving multiple mobile vehicles, whereby a system and/or a method of the invention achieves greatly improved spectral efficiency in the assignment of frequency bands to communications channels between the vehicles and/or stationary ground stations. Other examples of the present invention provide systems and methods to analyze the RF emissions resulting from the motion of transmitters and/or receivers through airspace with the help of five-dimensional quanta of space (x, y, z), time and frequency to assign frequency bands to test plans (including previously-validated test plan(s) and/or to-be-validated test plan(s)). In one specific example, the analysis is directed to the assignment of frequency bands with and without reuse.

Systems and methods for efficient radio frequency spectrum management in a scenario involving multiple mobile vehicles

Improved ranking and grouping techniques are disclosed for communication systems such as a multiple input multiple output system. For instance, techniques are disclosed for ranking and grouping users that are eligible for single-user and/or multiple-user transmissions. In one case, ranking and grouping are performed independently and, in another case, ranking and grouping are performed jointly.

A wireless communication system () includes a wireless network () that selectively modifies an aggregation of voice over internet protocol wireless transmissions. In one example, a mobile station geometry provides an indication whether modification of the aggregation is desirable. For example, a mobile station with a better geometry allows for a higher level of aggregation. Another disclosed example includes determining a current cell load condition and increasing the amount of aggregation and the level of aggregation as cell load conditions increase. Another disclosed technique includes staggering the scheduling of aggregated packets to avoid delays at a scheduler. One or more of the disclosed techniques may be used to efficiently transmit voice over internet protocol communications.

Method for multi-antenna scheduling of HDR wireless communication systems

A wireless communication system () includes using multiple antennas () for simultaneous transmissions to multiple mobile stations (). A distributed multiple antenna scheduling (DMAS) technique includes selecting a plurality of mobile stations for at least receiving simultaneous transmissions on at least one selected subcarrier from within a carrier bandwidth having orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM). In a disclosed example, a plurality of mobile stations are selected for each subcarrier within the carrier bandwidth. A disclosed example includes grouping subcarriers together into subsets to reduce computation complexity for determining which mobile stations to select for the simultaneous transmission.

Distributed multiple antenna scheduling for wireless packet data communication system using OFDM

A method of transmitting information over a feed back channel of a communication system that has multiple antenna systems is provided. Long term channel condition information is obtained from received measured and/or calculated channel parameter values. The obtained long term channel condition information is arranged in a particular manner and transmitted over a defined time period during which the long term channel condition information varies relatively slowly. Because the long term information remains relatively constant for one or more defined time periods, the amount of bandwidth needed to communicate this value is small because it need only be communicated occasionally. Thus only a small bandwidth needs to be allocated for transmitting this long term information.

Method for improved performance and reduced bandwidth channel state information feedback in communication systems

A wireless data communication system simultaneously transmits data signals from more than one antenna with a deterministic, time-dependent phase difference between the signals. In one example, more than one antenna transmits the same data signal with a phase difference between the transmitted signals. In another example multiple users' data signals are simultaneously transmitted using a corresponding plurality of beams that each use at least two transmitting antennas. Transmissions to multiple users on a shared packet data channel can be scheduled at the same time. In one example, the phase difference is periodic and the beams are orthogonal to maximize system throughput even when one or more users is stationary or slowly moving.
