The lower housing includes a side wall. The upper housing includes a bezel. The bezel connectors each provide an electrical connection to the bezel. The first GNSS antenna is configured to receive a first GNSS wireless signal. The second GNSS antenna is configured to receive a second GNSS wireless signal. The communication antenna is configured to transmit and receive a communication wireless signal. Each antenna is formed from a portion of the circumference of the bezel, a portion of the circumference of the side wall, and two of the bezel connectors.

The first antenna is formed by the first opening of the photovoltaic layer.

A wrist-worn electronic device comprises a bezel, an antenna, and an aperture tuning network. The bezel is formed at least partially from electrically conductive material and positioned along a side wall of a housing of the device. The antenna includes a first aperture and a second aperture which are formed by various portions of the bezel. The antenna is configured to operate in one of two operating modes including a dual band mode in which the first aperture receives a first global navigation satellite system (GNSS) wireless signal at a first frequency band and the second aperture receives a second GNSS wireless signal at a second frequency band, and a single band mode in which the first aperture and the second aperture each receive the first GNSS wireless signal. The aperture tuning network has an adjustable configuration wherein adjustment of the adjustable configuration changes the operating mode of the antenna.

The housing includes an internal cavity, a lower wall configured to contact a wearer's wrist, and a first side wall coupled to the lower wall. The first side wall includes an inner surface. The frame has a second side wall which includes an outer surface. The frame is positioned within the housing such that the internal cavity is formed partly by the lower wall and the second side wall. The location determining element is configured to determine a current geolocation of the electronic device based on a location signal. The first antenna is configured to receive the location signal. The first antenna is positioned between the inner surface of the first side wall and the outer surface of the second side wall and extends along a first portion of the perimeter of the frame.

The present application provides an antenna system for use in an electronic device. The antenna system includes a conductive housing for the electronic device having a perimeter, which extends around the device. The conductive housing has a plurality of arms formed in the conductive housing at or near the perimeter. The antenna system further includes a conductive substrate, coupled to the conductive housing and located within the perimeter of the conductive housing. The conductive substrate has a notch located proximate the position of one of the plurality of arms in the conductive housing, where each of the plurality of arms respectively couples to the conductive substrate proximate the perimeter, and where the notch causes one of the plurality of arms to couple to the conductive substrate at a point having a different relative distance along the length of the perimeter of the conductive housing. The antenna system still further includes a plurality of signal sources, respectively coupled between the conductive substrate and a corresponding one of the plurality of arms. In at least some or other embodiments a selectable shunt circuit can be used to affect the polarization of the wireless signals associated with one or more of the antenna arms.

The present application is directed to managing the length of a set of one or more conductors in an auxiliary electronic element, which is coupled to a wireless communication device. The auxiliary electronic element includes the set of one or more conductors coupled to and extending away from main internal electronic circuitry of the auxiliary electronic element, the main internal electronic circuitry supporting and controlling at least some of the operation of the auxiliary electronic element. The set of one or more conductors extends through an area proximate to at least one of one or more antennas of the wireless communication device a predetermined adjusted length away from the main internal electronic circuitry, in which the at least one of one or more antennas of the wireless communication device supports a wireless communication connection with another wireless communication device. The predetermined adjusted length of the set of one or more conductors is selected so as to match a one quarter length of a longest wavelength of one or more frequencies of the wireless communication connection associated with the at least one of the one or more antennas, which are affected by the set of one or more conductors of the auxiliary electronic element extending through the area proximate thereto.
