Disclosed is a method for treating actinic keratosis of tissue of a patient, the method including contacting non-thermal, atmospheric pressure plasma over areas of the tissue having actinic keratosis for a time and at treatment conditions effective to give rise to an at least partial amelioration of the keratosis.

Devices and methods for treatment of skin conditions

Applications of dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) based atmospheric pressure plasma jets are often limited by the relatively small area of treatment due to their 1D configuration. This system generates 2D plasma jets permitting fast treatment of larger targets. DBD evolution starts with formation of transient anode glow, and continues with development of cathode-directed streamers. The anode glow can propagate as an ionization wave along the dielectric surface through and outside of the discharge gap. Plasma propagation is not limited to 1D geometry such as tubes, and can be organized in a form of a rectangular plasma jet, or other 2D or 3D shapes. Also described are a method for generating 2D plasma jets and use of the 2D plasma jets for cancer therapy.

A rotary internal combustion engine has a base and a housing rotatably mounted to the base and having a rectangle-blade for forming a part of combustion chamber. An output shaft is rotatably mounted concentric with the housing and has also a rectangle-blade rigidly extended therefrom for forming a part of the combustion chamber. Two rectangle-blades engage slidingly within the housing for causing strokes of compression-explosion in response to relative rotational movement between the housing and the shaft. Rotation of the housing is caused by expansion of exhaust gases from the combustion chamber passing through a turbine rigidly connected to the housing. A circle-exhaust-pipe is mounted relative to opening of the turbine for using exhaust gases to adjust loading power on the shaft for facilitating performing the compression stroke in an un-loaded engine. Stop means limits the relative movement between the housing and the shaft. Brake means are arranged between the base and the housing for facilitating starting and stopping sequences of the engine.

An output shaft is rotatably mounted concentrically with the housing and has an arm rigidly extending therefrom. A piston slides in the cylinder for forming a combustion chamber, the piston being operatively connected to the arm. Relative rotational movement between the housing and the output shaft causes the piston to reciprocate in the cylinder. Rotation of the housing is caused by expansion of exhaust gases from the cylinder passing through a turbine which is fixedly connected to the housing. Adjustable stator blades are mounted to the base downstream of the turbine. Stop means are arranged on the shaft for limiting the relative movement between the shaft and the housing. Brake means are arranged on the base and the housing for facilitating starting and stopping sequences of the engine.
