Antenna arrays and access points are disclosed. An antenna array includes first second, third, and fourth antennas formed in a 2&#xd7;2 grid on a first surface of a planar substrate. Each of the four antennas is linearly polarized in a first direction and provides a roughly cardiod radiation pattern in a plane normal to the first direction. Nulls of the cardiod radiation patterns of the first and second antennas face the third and fourth antennas, respectively, and nulls of the cardiod radiation patterns of the third and fourth antenna face the first and second antennas, respectively.

Dual band MIMO antenna and wireless access point

A distributed broadband, omni-dual-band monopole antenna system for use in a Wi-Fi access point. The distributed omni-dual-band antenna system may include an antenna array that includes 4, 6, or 8 monopole antennas arranged in a circular array fashion along the perimeter of the access point. Each monopole antenna may be associated with a single Wi-Fi radio of the access point, and each of the antennas for the different radios are interleaved in order to provide omni-coverage with minimal distortion; that is, each antenna of the access point is alternated with antennas for different radios. A broadband printed omni-dual-band monopole antenna comprising three horizontal radiating elements arranged in an S-shape and a single vertical radiating element connected to the bottom-most horizontal radiating element is also disclosed.

Distributed omni-dual-band antenna system for a Wi-Fi access point

A multiple input, multiple output ('MIMO') antenna system is provided for operation on a radio frequency ('RF') module that may be used in a wireless access device. The MIMO antenna system includes a plurality of multi-band antenna elements connected to a radio in a MIMO configuration. The multi-band antenna elements and the radio are configured to operate on an RF module. A reflector is formed on the RF module to contain the plurality of multi-band antenna elements and a common director is positioned in front of the multi-band antenna elements to concentrate signal communication in a sector. The plurality of multi-band antenna elements are oriented to provide a sector coverage pattern formed by beam patterns generated by each of the multi-band antenna elements.

MIMO antenna system

A wireless local area network ('WLAN') antenna array ('WLANAA') is disclosed. The WLANAA may include a circular housing having a plurality of radial sectors and a plurality of primary antenna elements. Each individual primary antenna element of the plurality of primary antenna elements may be positioned within an individual radial sector of the plurality of radial sectors.

A system for testing a wireless access device having a plurality of radio modules is provided. The system includes a housing having an interior chamber. The interior chamber is adapted to receive a wireless access device. A plurality of probes are positioned for respective alignment with an antenna of a corresponding radio module of the wireless access device. Testing system for a wireless access device and method

An antenna system connected to a radio in a Multiple-Input, Multiple-Output (MIMO) arrangement and configured to communicate in an area of coverage. The antenna system includes a plurality of antenna elements. The plurality of antenna elements further includes a first plurality of antenna elements configured to communicate on a first frequency band and a second plurality of antenna elements configured to communicate on a second frequency band. A plurality of MIMO-configured radio ports on the radio communicates radio signals to and from the antenna elements. A beam-forming network is connected to at least two of the first plurality of antenna elements and to at least two radio ports. The beam-forming network is configured to form space diversity beams in the area of coverage.

A method for determining a geospatial location of a client in signal communication with a wireless array is provided. A magnetometer is used to provide geospatial orientation information relating to an orientation of a wireless array relative to the surface of the Earth. The geospatial orientation of the wireless array is determined based on the geospatial orientation information provided by the magnetometer. A transceiver in the wireless array that the client is in signal communication with is identified. The geospatial orientation of the transceiver that the client is in signal communication with is identified based on the geospatial orientation of the wireless array and the position of the transceiver in the wireless array. A geospatial direction of the client relative to the wireless array is calculated based on the geospatial orientation of the transceiver the client is in signal communication with and is used to identify a geospatial sector in which the client is located.

Method for determining a geospatial location of a client in signal communication with a wireless array

Embodiments of the invention are directed to retrodirective radio-frequency systems wherein a transmit antenna array includes at least one row of N transmit elements and a receive antenna array includes at least one row of N receive elements that correspond one-to-one to the transmit elements and wherein the transmit and receive elements are located on spaced planes, and centered about a common axis and located at common transmit distance and a common receive distance, respectively. In some embodiments the one row of transmit and receive elements comprises 'n' rows of elements, where 'n' is an integer greater than one, thereby forming a two-dimensional array. In some embodiments the total transmit radiation pattern provides an azimuth coverage of 360 degrees. In other embodiments, it may provide less coverage but be operable as independent sectors. In some embodiments, the desired transmit wave form will be identical between all transmit elements of the array, one possible example being pseudo random noise imparted on a sinusoidal carrier.

A wireless array for providing access to a network is provided. The wireless array includes at least two transceivers in signal communication with a client. A magnetometer of the wireless array provides orientation information relating to an orientation of the wireless array relative to a magnetic field. A controller of the wireless array is in signal communication with the transceivers and the magnetometer. The controller manages the communications exchanged via the transceivers and receives the orientation information provided by the magnetometer.

In one embodiment, an integrated antenna and display shade for a wireless portable control unit is provided which includes a stowable display shade having two side panels and a front panel between the two side panels. Each of the two side panels are foldably connected to opposing edges of the front panel so as to be capable of folding into planes generally parallel with a plane of the front panel when stowed and into planes generally orthogonal to the plane of the front panel when deployed to shade a visual display. The front panel includes an active antenna and each of the side panels include a parasitic antenna.
