A doll includes a body and a head, two legs and two arms, each movably attached to the body. The doll includes a mechanism connected with the head, with each of the legs, and with the arms. The mechanism is configured to displace the legs frontwardly with respect to the body in alternating succession and to displace the head in lateral directions with respect to the body such that the head moves toward one lateral side of the body as one of the legs displaces frontwardly from the opposite lateral side of the body. Movement of the legs displaces the body of the doll in either a walking or a crawling mode. Further, a motor is connected with the mechanism to drive the mechanism to displace the legs, arms and head with respect to the body. An electrical circuit is connected with the motor and has a microphone. The circuit is configured to drive the motor when the microphone receives sound, particularly a user-generated command. Preferably, the circuit includes an integrated circuit chip configured to drive the motor for a randomly specified period of time. The mechanism preferably includes a gear train having an input end connected with the motor and output ends connected with the legs, the arms and the head. Further, the mechanism preferably includes several separate linkages connected with the legs, the arms and the head, each linkage pivoting the associated appendages or the head with respect to the body.

Toy painting apparatuses which provide means for finger painting a substrate without the user coming into direct contact with the paint. The painting apparatus has paint dispensing means and also provides a relatively thin, flexible, transparent, protective barrier between liquid paints that are dispensed onto the surface of a substrate and a user's fingers. The apparatus allows a user to apply paint to a substrate, such as paper, and manipulate the paint by smearing it with fingers, trowels, rollers and other similar implements which are moved across the surface of the barrier.

A self-propelled musical toy rolling ball which plays musical tunes and sound effects. The ball may also include decorative images on its surface which may generally correspond to the musical tune or sound effects played by the ball. The electronics of the ball, once energized, operate to propel the ball and simultaneously activate an integrated circuit sound effects chip which plays first sound sequence, typically a musical tune. When the ball bumps into a wall or other object, the propulsion mechanism, typically a drive motor which may be transmissivly connected to a central axis shaft, is disengaged and the circuit then plays a second sound sequence, typically a randomly selected pre-programmed sound effect from one of a plurality of different sounds. Thereafter, the propelling mechanism is again activated and the ball resumes playing the musical tune.

Self-propelled musical toy ball

A pocket sized toy game including an enclosure defining a chamber wherein a die is retained for movement, a manually operated mechanism for randomly moving the dice within the chamber, and a game board. The enclosure includes a cover and a pivotally interconnected base. An open sided transparent housing located in a cavity defined by the cover defines a chamber wherein the dice are movably retained. The manually operated mechanism is arranged within the cover and includes a pivotal lever which impacts against the dice to facilitate moving the dice within the chamber to facilitate playing the game. The cover is movable between open and closed positions. In its open position, the cover is generally disposed upright relative to the base. In its closed position, the cover lies generally paralleled to the base and defines a cavity therebetween. The game board is pivotally connected to the cover or base and includes a series of interconnected board segments which are foldable relative to each other to facilitate storage of the game board within the cavity defined between the cover and base. The cover of the present invention further defines a chamber wherein associated markers for playing the game are stored. A door closes this chamber to prevent inadvertent loss of such associated markers. The game of the present invention further includes a scoring apparatus for tracking a player's score.

Pocket sized toy game

A wrist-borne launcher for a toy vehicle having a road-engaging flywheel mounted on an axle, one end of which extends through the bearing of a false wheel and terminates in a male coupler coaxial with a ring on the outer hub thereof. When not in use, the vehicle is held on a platform having a battery compartment, the platform being provided at its underside with a wrist-engaging cuff. Wires from the battery compartment pass through an arm cantilevered from the platform to reach over the hand of the player. The wires are connected to an electric motor housed in a power box supported at the free end of the arm, a depressible switch being connected in series with the motor. The shaft of the motor terminates in a female coupler coaxially disposed within a cylindrical socket formed in the side of the box corresponding to the underside of the platform, a switch actuator being interposed between the female coupler and the rim of the socket. When the player removes the vehicle from the platform and pushes the false wheel against the power box so as to telescope the hub ring within the socket, the male coupler then engages the female coupler and the ring depresses the switch actuator to activate the motor, thereby driving the flywheel. When the flywheel is revved up, the player then releases the vehicle onto a road surface to permit the vehicle to speed away from the launcher.

Wrist-borne launcher for toy vehicle having a flywheel motor

An articulated toy vehicle capable of negotiating a difficult terrain such as a terrain characterized by successive troughs and peaks and other irregularities. The articulated vehicle is composed of a wheeled tractor section and a series of wheeled trailer sections linked thereto by means of a motor-driven, multi-section drive shaft, each section of which is operatively coupled to a wheel axle of a respective vehicle section. The drive shaft sections are intercoupled by detachable universal joints whereby as the vehicle traverses the difficult terrain, it assumes a sinuous formation conforming to the varying contours of the terrain to provide a distributed traction making it possible for the vehicle to overcome the difficulties presented by the terrain.

Articulated toy vehicle

A motorizd toy car which upon frontal impact with a wall or other obstruction simulates a crash and its consequences. The wheeled car is provided with a chassis on which a hollow body is mounted, the body being defined by a front hood section having a simulated bumper prow, an intermediate cockpit section accommodating a hinged side door, and a rear trunk section having a trunk lid hinged thereon. The intermediate and rear sections are formed of rigid material and are attached to the chassis, whereas the front section which is formed of resilient material is free of the chassis. Slidable along the chassis is a sled whose front end is attached to the prow of the front body section, a coil spring urging the sled to a retracted position in which the front section is deformed to assume a crushed appearance. The side door and the trunk lid are operatively coupled to the sled so that when these components are manually swung from their fully open to their closed positions, the sled is then caused to advance against the action of the spring to an extended position which is held by a spring-biased detent. In this extended position the car assumes its normal appearance in which the front body section is undeformed. Upon impact, the shock thereof releases the detent which frees the sled to return to its retracted position to impart a crushed appearance to the front section of the body, the door and lid then being outflung to simulate a crash. By again closing the door and lid, the normal appearance of the car is restored, thereby making it possible to repeatedly 'crash' the toy car.

Toy crash vehicle

A free-wheeling toy vehicle which when propelled makes a repetitive sound simulating the noise of an internal combustion engine. The vehicle includes a chassis having bearings supporting front and rear wheel axles. Lying on top of the chassis between the axles is a drum having an elastic drum head. Cantilevered from one end of the chassis is a clapper formed of a flat metal spring terminating in a striker, the spring being biased so that the striker normally rests on the drum head. A finger projects downwardly from the clapper, the tip of the finger being successively engaged by the equispaced teeth of a hub mounted on one of the wheel axles and turning therewith. Each time the finger tip is engaged by a moving tooth, the finger is pushed forward to raise the striker above the drum head; and when the finger than falls between adjacent teeth, the striker is released to hit the drum head to generate a thumping sound. The repetition rate of the clapper action depends on the running speed of the vehicle and therefore acts to create a realistic motor noise.

A toy work vehicle propelled by a bi-directional d-c motor in a forward or reverse direction depending on the polarity of battery voltage applied thereto, the vehicle including a power take-off device driven by the same motor to raise or lower a load. A gear shift mechanism operatively coupled either to the wheel axles or to the power take-off device, is controlled by a shift stick which in neutral operatively couples the motor only to the power take-off device. The shift stick is movable to a lateral position having a forward and a reverse mode in which the motor is operatively coupled to the wheel axles. The shift stick also cooperates with a slide carrying the movable contacts of a polarity-reversing switch connecting the battery to the motor such that when the stick is in neutral the motor is disconnected; when the stick is in the forward mode, the battery voltage is applied in a polarity causing forward motion of the wheels; and when the stick is in the reverse mode, the polarity is reversed to cause reverse wheel motion. Coacting with the switch slide is a power take-off lever having a forward and back position such that when the shift stick is in neutral and the lever is in its forward mode, this causes the motor to drive the power take-off device to raise the load, and when the shift stick is in neutral and the lever is in its back mode, this causes the device to lower the load.

A toy vehicle having a rear hitching element engageable by a dynamic coupler at one end of a sled-type trailer which may be more or less loaded by a player. The coupler is attached to a spring-biased piston slidable within a box projecting from the trailer whereby the extent to which the piston is withdrawn from the box when the trailer is hauled by the work vehicle depends on the magnitude of the load placed on the trailer. Operatively coupled to the piston is a load-indicating meter whose reading not only tells the player how great a load has been placed on the trailer, but also indicates the ability of the vehicle to haul this load, for the meter pointer will not move beyond the point at which the vehicle is stalled.

A motorized toy car which upon frontal impact with an obstruction simulates a crash and its consequences. The wheeled car has a chassis, a body thereon defined by a front hood section having a simulated bumper prow, an intermediate cockpit section accommodating a hinged side door, and a rear trunk section having a trunk lid hinged thereon. The intermediate and rear sections are rigid and attached to the chassis, whereas the front section is resilient and free of the chassis. Slidable along the chassis is a sled whose front end is attached to the prow, a coil spring urging the sled to a retracted position in which the front section is deformed to assume a crushed appearance. The side door and the trunk lid are operatively coupled to the sled so that swinging them from their fully open to their closed positions advances the sled against the spring to an extended position which is held by a spring-biased detent and in which the car has a normal appearance. Impact shock releases the detent which frees the sled to return to its retracted position to impart a crushed appearance to the front, the door and oid then being outflung. By again closing the door and lid, the normal appearance of the car is restored.

A toy vehicle propelled by a bi-directional, miniature d-c motor, coupled by a clutch through a gear train to a wheel axle. A manually-operated shift stick mechanism is operatively linked both to the clutch and to a polarity-reversing switch interposed between the motor and a battery. The arrangement is such that when the stick is in neutral, the battery is disconnected and the clutch is disengaged, whereby the vehicle is then free rolling. When the stick is put in its forward position, the clutch is engaged to couple the motor to the gear train and the switch is operated to apply voltage to the motor in a polarity causing the vehicle to travel in the forward direction. When the stick is put in its reverse position, the clutch is again engaged and the switch is operated to apply voltage to the motor in the reverse polarity, causing the vehicle to travel in the opposite direction.
