A system for providing management protocol mediation between wireless networks includes a first wireless network () operable to communicate with a mobile station () over a wireless interface (). The system also includes a second wireless network () having an operations and maintenance center (OMC) () coupled thereto and operable to execute an application to manage the first wireless network () using a first management protocol. The OMC () is further operable to manage the second wireless network () using a second management protocol. The system further includes a protocol mediator () coupled to the first and second wireless networks. The protocol mediator () is operable to translate between the first management protocol and the second management protocol.

Method and system for providing management protocol mediation in wireless communications networks

A communications system includes a base station operable to communicate with a terminal unit over a wireless interface and a packet network coupled to the base station and operable to communicate with the base station. The communications system also includes a network management system coupled to the packet network. The network management system is operable to generate a management message to manage the base station. The network management system is also operable to transparently communicate the management message to the base station and to transparently receive a response to the management message from the base station.

System and method for managing base stations in a wireless system

A communications system includes a base station operable to communicate with a terminal unit over a wireless interface and a packet network coupled to the base station and operable to communicate with the base station. The system also includes a network management system coupled to the packet network. The network management system is operable to generate a management message to manage the terminal unit. The network management system is also operable to transparently communicate the management message to the terminal unit and to transparently receive a response to the management message from the terminal unit.
