The invention relates to an absorbent article with a waist guard disposed in the back waist region such that at least a first pocket is formed. The waist guard comprises a waist guard sheet having at least three fold lines extending substantially parallel to the transverse centerline of the absorbent article. The waist guard sheet further has at least a first, second, third and fourth portion. The first pocket comprises at least a first elastic portion provided along and/or adjacent to the first fold line.

The present invention relates to an absorbent article with a waist guard disposed in the back waist region such that at least a first pocket is formed. The waist guard is formed of at least a first waist guard sheet and a second waist guard sheet. Each of the first and second waist guard sheet forms a portion of the first pocket. A pant type absorbent article includes a back elastic belt comprising a waist guard portion extending towards the crotch region from a closed base line towards an open edge, wherein the waist guard portion is formed by a first inner waist fold extending from a second inner waist fold, the second inner waist fold extending from the inner sheet, and a first elastic member bonded between the first inner waist fold and the second inner waist fold, wherein the waist guard portion is partially bonded to the remainder of the elastic belt from which the first and second inner waist folds extend to define a pocket.

An absorbent article comprising a liquid permeable topsheet, a backsheet, an absorbent core comprising an absorbent material and a core wrap is provided. The article comprises an intermediate layer between the bottom side of the core wrap and the backsheet. The intermediate layer and the absorbent core are only partially bonded to each other at their interface and the interface comprises a bonded portion and a unbonded portion. The intermediate layer can at least partially decouple from the absorbent core in the unbonded portion, which increases flexibility of the article in the transversal direction.

The leg gasketing system may include an inner cuff and an outer cuff; the inner cuff may include an inner cuff folded edge and an inner cuff material edge and the outer cuff may include an outer cuff material edge such that the web of material is folded outward to form the inner cuff folded edge. When tested by the Blowout Method Test as described herein, the disposable absorbent article has a Blowout Percent Leakage of less than about 9.0%.
