Tailoring automatic document scrolling to content and properties of the content increases readability of the document for a user. Instead of a user being forced to adjust to variations in content of a document while automatic scrolling proceeds at a constant rate or being forced to interrupt the automatic scrolling, the automatic scrolling shifts scroll speed for content variations. An application that presents a document and allows for automatic scrolling through the document, computes various scroll values for different document content and/or different properties of the same document content.

Systems and methods for previewing multimedia files associate information with a multimedia file that designates certain 'frames' of the multimedia file as preview content. Such information is embedded within the multimedia file itself using, for example, tags. A media player application may, in response to a user's request to preview a selected multimedia file, determine from the associated information those frames of the multimedia file that are designated as preview content, and the media player application may then present such designated preview frames to the user as a preview. Certain embodiments further enable extended play beyond the designated preview frames, responsive to a user request for such extended play. For example, during playing of a given preview frame, a user may request extended play, wherein additional contiguous frames are appended to the preview frame(s) to provide an extended play beyond what would be presented by the pre-designated preview.

System and method for previewing multimedia files

Printing non-visible, overflowing text is described, including detecting text boxes with visible and non-visible content, the text boxes being disposed in a file, retrieving the visible and non-visible content from at least one of the text boxes, and generating a printout of the file, the printout having the file and the visible and non-visible content of at least one of the text boxes.

In various example embodiments, a system and associated method to automatically adapt images is provided. A request to render a stored image is received. The request comprises an output parameter indicative of a display constraint to be applied in the rendering of the stored image, while the stored image has region characteristics associated therewith. An adaptation process to apply to the stored image is determined using the output parameter. An output image is then rendered using the adaptation process and the region characteristics. The output image is then provided to a display device.
