A method may include detecting parameter(s) of communication between an AP and a STA. The method may include determining a training configuration for a channel estimation of the communication based on the parameter(s). The method may include transmitting a DL transmission or a trigger frame to the STA. The DL transmission may include a training block configured according to the training configuration. The trigger frame may include the training configuration and instructions for the STA to include a training block configured according to the training configuration in a UL transmission to the AP. The STA may be configured to determine the channel estimation of a channel of the communication using the training block of the DL transmission received at the STA. Alternatively, the method may also include determining the channel estimation of a channel of the communication using the training block of the UL transmission received at the AP.

Channel training adaptation

An example method of wireless data transmission may include selecting a first frequency segment and selecting a second frequency segment that is different from and non-contiguous with the first frequency segment. The method may further include encoding a first signal with a data frame using the first frequency segment and encoding a second signal with the data frame using the second frequency segment. The method may further include providing the first signal and the second signal for wireless transmission such that at least a portion of the first signal and a portion of the second signal are simultaneously wirelessly transmitted.

Wireless communication using multiple frequencies segments

Methods and systems may include processes that may implement abbreviated header communications. In some implementations, a method may include generating a packet including an abbreviated header, where the abbreviated header may include a pointer corresponding to values for multiple parameters associated with a physical layer of communication rather than the values for the multiple parameters. The method may also include transmitting the packet to a client device according to the values for the multiple parameters.

Abbreviated header communication

Methods and systems may include processes by which the reliability and robustness of a wireless network may be improved. In some implementations, a method may include selecting at least two resource units to be used for communications to a single client device; and transmitting data in duplicate via each of the at least two resource units to the client device such that the client device is able to combine the data from each of the at least two resource units into a single instance of the data. In some implementations, a method may include obtaining notification of one or more ranges of frequencies corresponding to a set of resource units to be avoided in a spectrum of available frequencies, and allocating resource units to a set of client devices that covers the available frequencies while excluding the set of resource units to be avoided.

Multi-link range extension

A communication system includes multiple distributed antenna circuits and an access point (AP). The distributed antenna circuits include at least first and second antenna circuits. The AP is coupled to the distributed antenna circuits and includes multiple transmit chains, multiple receive chains, and an antenna control circuit communicatively coupled to the transmit chains and the receive chains. The first antenna circuit is co-located with the AP and the second antenna circuit is remote from the AP. The antenna control circuit is configured to determine a subset of the distributed antenna circuits to communicatively couple to at least some of the transmit chains to transmit data to a wireless station (STA) that is in range of the subset.

Flexible distributed antenna array

Example operations may include determining a first noise estimate of noise that propagates along a receive path of a device. The operations may further include determining a second noise estimate of the noise and determining a cross-relationship estimate with respect to the noise. In addition, the operations may include adjusting one or more correction filters configured to correct for imbalances between a first branch and a second branch of the receive path. The adjusting may be based on the first noise estimate, the second noise estimate, and the cross-relationship estimate.

A method of wireless communication may include monitoring, by a first device, a medium for frames in response to preparing to transmit a first frame to a second device. The method may also include while monitoring the medium and before transmitting the first frame, obtaining a second frame transmitted by a third device in the medium and adjusting a transmission of the first frame to the second device in the medium based on obtaining the second frame.

Spatial reuse in wireless communication

A multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) wireless transceiver with 'N' transmit and receive chains and a bandwidth evaluation circuit, a chain partitioning circuit and a switchable radio frequency 'RF' filter bank. The bandwidth evaluation circuit evaluates both the utilization of the WLAN(s) and any remaining communications channels and determines whether to operate the MIMO chains synchronously as a single radio or asynchronously as multiple radios. The chain partitioning circuit either partitions subsets of the MIMO chains for asynchronous operation as distinct radios or combines all MIMO chains for synchronous operation as a single radio. The switchable RF filter bank is responsive to a partitioning of subsets of the chains into distinct radios to add RF filters to a RF portion of the chains to isolate each radio from one another, and responsive to a combining of all MIMO chains into a single radio to remove all RF filters.

Transmutable MIMO wireless transceiver

A communication system includes multiple distributed antenna circuits and an access point (AP). The AP is coupled to the distributed antenna circuits and includes multiple transmit chains, multiple receive chains, and an antenna control circuit communicatively coupled to the transmit chains and the receive chains. The antenna control circuit is configured to determine a subset of the distributed antenna circuits to communicatively couple to at least some of the transmit chains to transmit data to a wireless station (STA) that is in range of the subset. A corresponding method includes determining the subset to communicatively couple to the at least some of the transmit chains of the AP. The method includes communicatively coupling the subset to the at least some of the transmit chains. The method includes directing the data from the at least some of the transmit chains to the subset of the distributed antenna circuits.

A MIMO transceiver may include a communication chain configured to generate a signal at a first frequency and that includes a pre-distorter configured to accept pre-distortion parameters to pre-distort signals and a PA to amplify the signals. The MIMO transceiver may include a DPD chain configured to receive the signal at the first frequency and that includes a data converter to sample the signal using a sampling rate based on a baseband frequency and to generate a sample signal based on the sampling of the signal. The MIMO transceiver may include a buffer configured to buffer the sample signal. The MIMO transceiver may include a DPD circuit configured to calibrate the pre-distortion parameters based on the buffered sample signal. The MIMO transceiver may include a CTS circuit to transmit a CTS-to-Self signal within an operational environment to reserve a duration of time for the MIMO transceiver to perform DPD calibration.

Direct sampling for digital pre-distortion calibration

A MIMO transceiver configured for digital pre-distortion may include a first communication chain configured to wirelessly transmit a signal at a first frequency. The first communication chain may include a pre-distorter circuit configured to accept parameters to pre-distort signals prior to transmission. The first communication chain may include a PA configured to amplify the signals of the first communication chain prior to transmission. The MIMO transceiver may include a second communication chain. The second communication chain may be configured to wirelessly receive the signal at the first frequency. The second communication chain may include a converter circuit configured to convert the signal to a baseband frequency. The second communication chain may include a buffer configured to buffer the signal at the baseband frequency. The MIMO transceiver may include a DPD circuit configured to calibrate the parameters based on the buffered signal to compensate for non-linearity in amplification by the PA.

Over the air coupling for digital pre-distortion calibration

An example method may include obtaining default transmitting parameters and potential variations of the default transmitting parameters for a packet to be transmitted over a wireless network. The method may also include obtaining medium state information for a medium of the wireless network. The method may additionally include generating a first candidate of transmitting parameters and a second candidate of transmitting parameters based on the medium state information, where each of the first and second candidates of transmitting parameters are consistent with at least one of the default transmitting parameters and the potential variations of the default transmitting parameters. The method may also include selecting from among the first and the second candidates of transmitting parameters to use when transmitting the packet over the wireless network.

Medium-based transmission parameter adaptation

A MIMO transceiver may include a communication chain configured to generate a signal at a first frequency. The communication chain may include a pre-distorter configured to accept pre-distortion parameters to pre-distort signals. The communication chain may include a PA to amplify the signals. The MIMO transceiver may include a DPD chain configured to receive the signal at the first frequency. The DPD chain may include a data converter to sample the signal using a sampling rate based on a baseband frequency. The data converter may be configured to generate a sample signal based on the sampling of the signal. The DPD chain may include a buffer configured to buffer the sample signal. The MIMO transceiver may include a DPD circuit configured to calibrate the pre-distortion parameters calibrated based on the buffered sample signal to compensate for non-linearity in amplification provided by the PA of the communication chain.
