A cover assembly is provided for an engine block having at least one sidewall defining a service opening therein. The cover assembly includes a plate defining an opening therein, a fastening element rotatably disposed in the opening, and a clamping element. The plate has a first side, and a second side. The second side is configured to seat against an outer surface of the sidewall. The fastening element has a first portion configured to be axially restricted by the plate, and a second portion axially extending from the first portion. The second portion is disposed beyond the second side. The clamping element includes a central core disposed at the second side. The central core defines a threaded receptacle configured to engage with the second portion. The clamping element also includes multiple arms that radial extend from the central core and seat against an inner surface of the sidewall.

Cover assembly for an engine

A stub shaft is disclosed. The stub shaft may have an elongated cylindrical body having a base end configured to be secured to an engine block and an opposing distal end. The stub shaft may also have a collar formed at the base end of the elongated cylindrical body. The collar may be configured to be inserted into a cavity in the engine block to guide attachment of the stub shaft to the engine block. The stub shaft may further have an axial bore formed in the elongated cylindrical body and passing from the base end to the distal end. The stub shaft may also have a radial passage formed in the elongated cylindrical body and in fluid communication with the axial bore. The stub shaft may additionally have a thrust face formed between the base end and the radial passage.

Idler gear stub shaft

A top deck area of a crankcase is provided. The top deck area includes an exhaust elbow extending from a side surface towards a top surface of the top deck area. The top deck area also includes a plate. The plate is configured to define a first chamber and a second chamber within the top deck area. The first chamber is configured to at least partially enclose the exhaust elbow. The second chamber is configured to provide a passage for a fluid flow such that the plate is disposed to isolate the second chamber from the exhaust elbow.
