A technique for automatically determining new font sizes includes receiving information indicating a layout change for a document. The document includes a text frame that includes text content in a first font size. The text content covers a particular percentage of the text frame, and the layout change causes a change in the size of the text frame to a resized text frame. The technique includes determining a second font size for the text content in the resized text frame. A percentage of the resized text frame covered by the text content in the second font size is substantially similar to the particular percentage of the document. The method includes resizing the size of the text content from the first font size to the second font size and outputting a document with the resized text frame with the text content in the second font size.

Techniques for automated resizing of text content responsive to layout changes

As part of generating a digital catalog, a creative professional interacts with digital content via a user interface to specify an arrangement of the digital content in relation to each other. This is used by a digital layout creation system to generate a layout block that is to serve as a basis for digital catalog entries in the digital catalog. As part of arranging the digital content, the digital layout creation system generates metadata automatically and without user intervention in real time that specifies the arrangement of the digital content and what digital content is associated as part of that arrangement. Once a desired arrangement is achieved by the creative professional, an input is received by the digital layout creation system to create a layout block that is used as a basis to generate digital catalog entries of a digital catalog.

Automated digital catalog generation

In implementations of reviewing document designs, a document review system can import reviewer comments to a design application used to author a document design. The reviewer comments can be made by a reviewer via a review application implemented on an additional computing device other than the computing device implementing the design application. The document review system can add, via the design application, a reply comment to the reviewer comment. The reply comment can be made by a designer of the document design as part of a comment hierarchy that indicates comment sequences and comment links for the document design. The document review system can also export, to the review application, a review document representing the document design that preserves the comment hierarchy in the document design.

Reviewing document designs

Digital annotation and digital content linking techniques implemented by digital content generation system as part of a computing device are described. The system is configured to convert a digital document including an object from a first format to a second format, receiving the digital document in the second format with an annotation associated with the object, converting the digital document in the second format with the annotation associated with the object to the first format, and maintaining the association between the annotation and the object subsequent to an alteration in a page sequence of the document in the first format, or movement of the object.

Digital annotation and digital content linking techniques

In some embodiments, an asset integration service establishes a communication session between a design application and a client device for accessing source graphical assets from a web server executing a content management service. The integration service receives, during the communication session and via a design interface from the design application, a request to add a source graphical asset to a document displayed on the client device. The integration service retrieves, responsive to the request, a placement graphical asset that is a lower-resolution copy of the source graphical asset and updates the design interface to include the placement graphical asset. The integration service associates the placement graphical asset with a network link for accessing the source graphical asset via the content management service. The integration service subsequently detects that the source graphical asset has been changed and displays, via the design interface, a notification that the placement graphical asset is outdated.

Integrating remote assets from content management service with content developed by content creation applications

In one or more implementations, a digital medium environment includes at least one computing device. Systems and techniques are described herein for inserting linked text fragments in a document layout of a document. By supporting multiple linked text fragments within a text frame, of both constant content and variable content, content of an asset is inserted into a text fragment while preserving the styling attributes of the text frame. Thus, manual efforts associated with reapplying styling attributes are avoided, unlike systems that do not distinguish between text fragments with constant content and text fragments with variable content within a text frame. Furthermore, a user interface is generated that exposes metadata of assets and a document layout. Content of an asset exposed via the user interface, once selected, is inserted into the document layout and exposed as a tagged text fragment, indicating the content is linked.
