Systems for bi-directional single-ended transmission are described. For example, a system may include a receiver with a first differential input terminal and a second differential input terminal, wherein the first differential input terminal is coupled to a first node and the second differential input terminal is coupled to a second node; a transmitter with an output terminal coupled to a third node; a first inductor connected between the first node and the third node; a second inductor connected between the second node and the third node; and a shunt resistor connected between the third node and a ground node.

Bi-directional single-ended transmission systems

Systems for bi-directional single-ended transmission are described. For example, a system may include a receiver with a first differential input terminal and a second differential input terminal, wherein the first differential input terminal is coupled to a first node and the second differential input terminal is coupled to a second node; a transmitter with an output terminal coupled to a third node; a first inductor connected between the first node and the third node; a second inductor connected between the second node and the third node; and a shunt resistor connected between the third node and a ground node. Some implementations include a first inductor with an inductance within twenty percent of 1 microhenry and a capacitance less than a tenth of a picofarad is included in a filter coupling a power supply to transmission line. The first inductor may connect to the transmission line.

Systems for power over data line applications with low mode conversion are described. For example, an apparatus may include a magnetic core; a first conductive coil wound in a first winding direction around the magnetic core; a second conductive coil wound in a second winding direction around the magnetic core; a first conductive lead connecting a first end of the first conductive coil to a first pin; a second conductive lead connecting a second end of the first conductive coil to a second pin; a third conductive lead connecting a first end of the second conductive coil to a third pin, wherein lengths of the first conductive lead and the third conductive lead are equal; and a fourth conductive lead connecting a second end of the second conductive coil to a fourth pin, wherein lengths of the second conductive lead and the fourth conductive lead are equal.

Inductors for power over data line circuits

A data network may include a data bus and network nodes. The data bus may be a differential data bus having first and second differential signal lines that convey differential signals between the nodes. A bimodal impedance terminator may be coupled to the first and second differential signal lines at one or both ends of the data bus. The bimodal impedance terminator may include a first resistor coupled between the first differential signal line and a circuit node and a second resistor coupled between the second differential signal line and the circuit node. A capacitor may be coupled between the circuit node and ground. A third resistor may be coupled between the circuit node and ground in series with the capacitor. The bimodal impedance terminator may terminate both the differential-mode impedance and the common-mode impedance of the data bus to reduce signal reflections at the ends of the data bus.

Bimodal impedance matching terminators

A connector system for transferring electricity and data. The connector system includes a receptacle and a plug. The receptacle includes a shield, a power contact, a ground contact, and a data contact. The shield includes power apertures through which power conductor segments of the power contact extend, ground apertures through which ground conductor segments of the ground contact extend, and a data aperture through which a shield member and a data conductor of the data contact extend. The plug includes another power contact connected to a power wire, another ground contact connected to a ground wire, and another data contact. The plug is receivable by the receptacle to electrically connect the power wire conductor to the power conductor segments of the receptacle, to electrically connect the ground wire conductor to the ground conductor segments of the receptacle, and to electrically connect the data contact to the other data contact, respectively.

Combined power and data connector system

Aspects of the present disclosure involve a circuit for delivering electrical power from a direct current voltage source to an electronic system. The circuit may include a power injection circuit that injects a first portion of the power from a supply voltage of the source to a first data line and a second portion of the power from the supply voltage to a second data line. The power injection circuit may include first and second conductive paths from the supply voltage to the first and second data lines having first and second inductances, respectively, as well as a third conductive path between the first and second data lines having a third inductance greater than the first and second inductances. A conductive support structure may carry return current from the electronic system to the source.
