An expedited start-up procedure of an electrified vehicle involves a hybrid control processor (HCP) connected to a controller area network (CAN) having electrified powertrain (ePT) modules and an auxiliary HCP (AHCP) connected to the CAN and connected to the HCP via a hardwire wakeup line. In response to a start-up request, the HCP initializes the start-up procedure in which it sends a wakeup signal to the AHCP via the hardwire wakeup line, performs shutoff path testing via a first CAN bus, and confirms enabled ePT modules communication via a second CAN bus to complete the start-up procedure. In response to the wakeup signal from the HCP, the AHCP initializes and then participates in the start-up procedure in which it wakes up and enables communication by the plurality of ePT modules via the second CAN bus. A duration of the start-up procedure is less than a customer annoyance threshold.

High voltage battery contactor welding prevention techniques for an electrified vehicle include, in response to a request to perform a high voltage connection procedure, utilizing a supervisory controller to monitor a voltage of the low voltage battery system to determine whether a low voltage battery system of the vehicle has a voltage level sufficient to open/hold the set of contactors during the high voltage connection procedure, when the low voltage battery system has sufficient voltage, commanding by the supervisory controller to a sub-controller to perform the high voltage connection procedure, and when the low voltage battery system does not have sufficient voltage, displaying a low voltage indicator for a user to recharge the low voltage battery system before the high voltage connection procedure can occur.

An electrified vehicle includes a vehicle door, an electronic door latch system configured to selectively open the vehicle door, and an electrified powertrain configured to generate drive torque. A high voltage battery system for powering the electrified powertrain includes one or more battery contactors to selectively enable the high voltage battery system. A controller is configured to control operation of the vehicle and is in communication with the electronic door latch system. Upon receiving a door open request from the electronic door latch system, the controller activates the one or more battery contactors to enable the high voltage battery system only when the door open request is initiated from an outside of the vehicle.

A park electronic securement (e-securement) system for a battery electric vehicle (BEV) includes an electric vehicle control unit (EVCU) connected to a park pawl system of the BEV and configured to, when there is at least one of a plurality of malfunctions of an electrical system including a high voltage battery, a DC-DC converter, and a low voltage battery, receive power from a redundant power source voltage provided by the high voltage battery via the DC-DC converter and command either the park pawl system or an electric park brake to transition the BEV to a park state and, when there are none of the plurality of malfunctions of the electrical system, receive power from the low voltage battery for control of the park pawl system to transition the BEV to the park state when requested.

A control system and method for a vehicle is provided. The system comprises a poly-shifter, an RF Hub, a transmission control module (TCM) and a controller. The poly-shifter is configured to be moved between operating states including 'Park' and “Non-Park” positions. The RF Hub supports operational features of the vehicle. The TCM determines a lock state of a parking pawl in a transmission of the vehicle and communicates the lock state to the RF Hub. The controller is configured to determine whether a driver has exited the vehicle with the poly-shifter in a “Non-Park” position. The controller is further configured to power down the vehicle based on the lock state of the parking pawl being in a “Park” position and the driver exiting the vehicle with the poly-shifter in the “Non-Park” position.

A battery control system for a battery electric vehicle is configured to detect that a driver door of the vehicle has been opened and connect the battery system to an electrical system of the vehicle to power at least a cabin heater and defroster of the vehicle, detect a driver start request, determine whether a set of battery parameters satisfy a threshold indicative of the battery system being sufficiently conditioned for driving of the vehicle, and when the set of battery parameters satisfy the threshold, display, via the user interface, a first message indicating that the vehicle is ready to drive and allow the driver to drive the vehicle and driving is prevented.

Systems and methods for ensuring drivability for battery electric vehicles during extreme cold weather conditions

Non-inverted park lock systems and methods include an engine controller configured to control an engine of a vehicle in communication with a separate transmission controller via a controller area network (CAN), wherein the transmission controller is configured to control a transmission of the vehicle; and a conductor connecting the engine controller to a park lock solenoid disposed in the transmission and configured to move a park pawl to engage/disengage park. The engine controller keeps the park pawl disengaged from park during a power loss malfunction at the transmission controller and the transmission controller keeps the park pawl disengaged from park during a power loss malfunction at the engine controller by maintaining hydraulic pressure in the transmission at a threshold level until park is requested via the shifter.
