A controller for a vehicle includes at least one processor and at least one memory storing instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the controller to perform various operations. The operations include determining that a power loss to the controller has occurred. In response to the determination that the power loss has occurred, the operations are structured to determine whether a key switch associated with an engine of the vehicle is on; and, when the key switch is on, save operating data to a ferroelectric random access memory (TRAM) coupled to the controller.

Systems and methods for critical data save in electronic control modules

A controller includes a microcontroller and a control circuit. The control circuit includes circuitry structured to sense an alternating current (AC) from a current transformer coupled to the controller, convert the AC to direct current (rectified output DC), charge a capacitor to a first predetermined voltage level using the rectified output DC of the current transformer, and switch from a primary power supply for the microcontroller to a secondary power supply that includes the capacitor. The control circuit includes circuitry structured to cause the capacitor of the secondary power supply to provide power, at a second voltage level, to a clock coupled to the microcontroller.

Methods and apparatuses for connecting multiple loads with a common return pin in engine control module application are disclosed. Only one of the multiple loads can be connected to a power source at a time. At the high side, each load is coupled to the power source through a respective pin at a connector. At the low side, the multiple loads share a common return pin at the connector that connects the loads to the ground. When a first load is connected to the power source at the high side, a first low side driver circuit is used to connect the first load to the ground at the low side. When a second load is connected to the power source at the high side, the second low side driver circuit is used to connect the second load to the ground at the low side.

Systems and apparatuses include a control circuit and a switching circuit. The control circuit is structured to communicate with a real-time-clock battery and to selectively communicate with a vehicle battery. The control circuit is structured in an OFF arrangement when a wake supply voltage is received from the vehicle battery and in an ON arrangement when no wake supply voltage is received. The switching circuit is structured to provide communication between the real-time-clock battery and a real-time-clock power pin of a controller with a voltage drop of about 0.1 volts or less when the control circuit is in the ON arrangement and to inhibit communication between the real-time-clock battery and the real-time-clock power pin when the control circuit is in the OFF arrangement.

In one example, a pulse width modulation output temperature sensor device includes a linearization module, an analog-to-digital converter module operatively connected to the linearization module, and a digital magnitude comparator module operatively connected to the analog-to-digital converter module. A binary counter module is also operatively connected to the digital magnitude comparator module. The pulse width modulation output temperature sensor device thereby generates a digital pulse width modulation output based on a temperature sensor reading.

This disclosure is directed to techniques for automatically controlling a dual mode component of a device to operate according to a first mode or a second mode. According to these techniques, a device or circuit may include a first power supply input terminal and a dual mode component that includes a second power supply input terminal. The device or circuit further includes an automatic power supply selection module configured to compare a voltage level at the first power supply input terminal to a predetermined threshold, and based on the comparison, supply one of a first mode voltage level or a second mode voltage level to the second power supply input terminal. The first mode voltage level may cause the dual mode component to operate in a first mode, while the second mode voltage level may cause the dual mode component to operate in a second mode different than the first mode.

In general, this disclosure describes example techniques for a flexible heater system to automatically configure itself to operate over different input supply voltages. The flexible heater system may include a flexible heater that includes a first heater element and a second heater element. The flexible heater system may also include a switch circuit that may automatically couple the first heater element and the second heater element in a first configuration when an input supply voltage is at a first voltage level. The switch circuit may also automatically couple the first heater element and the second heater element in a second configuration when the input supply voltage is at a second voltage level.
