Systems and methods are described to address shortcomings in conventional systems by correcting an erroneous term in on-screen caption text for a media asset. In some aspects, the systems and methods identify the erroneous term in a text segment of the on-screen caption text, and identify one or more video frames of the media asset corresponding to the text segment. The systems and methods further identify a contextual term related to the erroneous term from the one or more video frames. By accessing a knowledge graph, the systems and methods identify a candidate correction based on the contextual term and a portion of the text segment. Lastly, the systems and methods replaces the erroneous term with the candidate correction.

Systems and methods for correcting errors in caption text

A method of disambiguating user intent in conversational interactions for information retrieval is disclosed. The method includes providing access to a set of content items with metadata describing the content items and providing access to structural knowledge showing semantic relationships and links among the content items. The method further includes providing a user preference signature, receiving a first input from the user that is intended by the user to identify at least one desired content item, and determining an ambiguity index of the first input. If the ambiguity index is high, the method determines a query input based on the first input and at least one of the structural knowledge, the user preference signature, a location of the user, and the time of the first input and selects a content item based on comparing the query input and the metadata associated with the content item.

Methods and systems for supplementing media assets during fast-access playback operations

Systems and methods are described to address shortcomings in conventional media systems via a novel technique to prevent corruption of a user's viewing profile. In some aspects, a user of an interactive media guidance application may select a media asset for viewing on a user device. The interactive media guidance application may receive a user viewing profile for the user from a remote server. If the media asset is determined to not be consistent with the user viewing profile, the interactive media guidance application may retrieve another user viewing profile for another user of the user device. If the media asset is determined to be consistent with the other user viewing profile, the interactive media guidance application may update the other user viewing profile based on the media asset.

Systems and methods for preventing corruption of user viewing profiles

Systems and methods are described herein for updating links between keywords associated with a trending topic. Control circuitry may identify a plurality of communications associated with a plurality of users, the plurality of communications being related to a topic. The communications may comprise, for example, emails, text messages, online social media posts, websites or portions of a website, or any other online communication. The control circuitry may determine whether the topic is trending and increase a strength of association between a first symbol associated with the topic and a second symbol associated with the topic such that when a search query is received that includes the first symbol, search results related to the second symbol have a higher probability of being returned.

Systems and methods are provided herein for recommending a pause position during a binge-watching session. A series containing multiple sequential episodes is provided to a user device. Then it is determined whether the user is engaged in binge-watching the series. If the user is binge-watching the series, a binge compulsion score is determined for each episode of the plurality of sequential episodes, where the binge compulsion score is based on how many additional sequential episodes an average user has watched after watching that episode. Then, in response to determining that the binge compulsion score of the next episode corresponds to a threshold, a prompt is generated for display, where the prompt includes a recommendation to the user to pause the series before the next episode begins.

The system may determine whether feedback should be requested from the user. Such determination may be based on various signals such as the user's present emotional state, whether the user input included profanity, whether the user input interrupted an output of the system, etc. When the system determines feedback should be requested, the system may select a feedback prompt pre-established by a domain, skill, or the like. After the system outputs the response to the user input, the system may output the feedback prompt.
