The present disclosure relates to transmitting and receiving communications including an upgraded communication quality at a first UE and a second UE. The first UE can determine the first UE is operating using a first RAT. The first UE can also initiate a communication comprising video media between the first UE and a second UE, where a communication quality of the communication is based on the first RAT, where the second UE is operating using a second RAT supporting a higher communication quality than the first RAT. Additionally, the first UE can determine that the first UE is in coverage of the second RAT. The first UE can also indicate, to the second UE, that the first UE is in the coverage of the second RAT. Further, the first UE can adjust the communication quality of the communication to the higher communication quality for the second RAT.

Methods and apparatus for upgrading communication quality

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described Generally, the described techniques provide for dynamically adjusting PDCP data splitting based on traffic parameters. In some examples, a wireless device may allocate data between first and second radio access technologies. The wireless device may receive a first set of data traffic parameters from a medium access control layer at the wireless device, where the data traffic parameters are associated with the first radio access technology. The wireless device may receive a second set of data traffic parameters from a medium access control layer at a second wireless device, where the data traffic parameters are associated with the second radio access technology. The wireless device may adjust the data allocation to the first and second radio access technologies based on receiving the first and second sets of data traffic parameters.

Wireless communication techniques that include autonomous beam selection performed by a mobile device are discussed. A mobile device may receive a first SSB on a current-serving reception beam and receive other SSBs on different reception beams. The mobile device may autonomously switch beams during communication without instruction from another device. A UE can adjust from one beam to another while performing wireless communication using a current-serving reception beam to performing wireless communication using a second reception beam. A switch can occur upon determining that the quality of wireless communication performed using the second reception beam on which a second SSB was received is higher than the quality of wireless communication performed using the current-serving reception beam on which the first SSB was received. A method of smart coding mode switching includes receiving a first data including a primary copy and a partial copy. The method includes determining if switching a coding mode from channel aware mode to non-channel aware mode may be advantageous. The method further includes transmitting a request to another device for coding mode switch in response to determination result. The method includes receiving and decoding of a second data that includes a primary copy.

Smart coding mode switching in audio rate adaptation

A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus performs a handover from a source cell to a target cell. The apparatus determines a decoding timer value based on network conditions. The apparatus attempts to decode a MIB or a SIB from the target cell within a time after the handover corresponding to the decoding timer value. The apparatus triggers a radio link failure (RLF) when the MIB or the SIB is not decoded within the time corresponding to the decoding timer value.
