A surgical instrument comprises a member defining a longitudinal axis and being connectable with a spinal implant. A handle is connected with the member. An image guide is connected with the member for orientation relative to a sensor to communicate a signal representative of a position of the spinal implant. The image guide is rotatable about the axis relative to the member and is disposable in at least one fixed position with the member. Systems, implants, spinal constructs and methods are disclosed.

Surgical instrument and method

A surgical system includes a first surgical instrument having a selected configuration and an image guide disposed relative to a sensor to communicate a signal representative of a position of the image guide. A passive image guide is fixed with vertebral tissue and is disposed relative to the sensor to communicate a signal representative of a position of the passive image guide. The passive image guide includes a first surface. A second surgical instrument is connectable with the first surgical instrument and includes a second surface engageable with the first surface in a mating configuration to provide verification of the selected configuration. Surgical instruments, implants, spinal constructs and methods are disclosed.

A surgical instrument includes a body member and a leg having a first end integrated with and extending from the body member. A head cavity is in the leg portion to hold a head. A channel is formed along a longitudinal length of the leg. An elongated rocker assembly includes an elongated lever arm coupled within the channel about a fulcrum and a spring actuation. A projection of the arm projects in a direction of the head cavity. A rocker slide lock has a collar slidably coupled around the body member and having a first position located between the body member and the actuation tab, such that a portion of the collar is under the actuation tab to limit pivotal motion of the rocker assembly, and a second position having a clearance from under the actuation tab.

Systems, methods of use and surgical instruments employing a secure slide lock to fasten a head

A system comprising surgical instruments of different types. Each surgical instrument includes a body member and a leg having a first end integrated with and a leg portion extending from the body member. The instrument includes a head cavity formed in a free end of the leg. The cavity holds a head. A channel is formed along a portion of a longitudinal length of the leg. The instrument includes an elongated rocker assembly pivotally coupled within the channel, with a spring actuation tab in proximity to the body member. The instrument includes a collar slidably coupled around the body member and having a first position located between the body member and the actuation tab such that a portion of the collar is under the actuation tab to limit pivotal motion of the rocker assembly and a second position of the collar has a clearance from under the actuation tab.

A surgical system including a combination instrument for breaking of tabs of a reduction connector and providing a counter torque for a driver is disclosed. The combination instrument may have an elongated rigid structure and include an internal shaft and a magazine portion configured to store at least one tab of a reduction connector. The combination instrument may further include a cut-out portion configured to retain the at least one tab within the magazine portion. In some embodiments, the driver may be configured to be inserted into the internal shaft of the combination instrument. In some embodiments, the driver is rotatable within the internal shaft of the combination instrument and configured to drive a set screw within the reduction connector. Disclosed drivers may be manual drivers or powered drivers. Some embodiments, may include a collar or a cap from which the broken off tabs may be ejected.
