It is disclosed a method of depositing a seal coating and a seal system comprising at least two layers on the surface of an article. The upper or surface layer has a higher chromium activity than a bottom layer, to reduce a diffusion of cobalt and the formation of cobalt oxide is reduced. The coating of invention may be heat-treated to reduce or optimize the formation of cobalt oxide to sustain the wear property.

Method of depositing a wear resistant seal coating and seal system

It is disclosed a method of deposting a seal coating and a seal system comprising at least two layers on the surface of an article. The upper or surface layer has a higher chromium activity than a bottom layer to reduce a diffusion of cobalt and the formation of cobalt oxide is reduced. The coating of invention may be heat-treated to reduce or optimize the formation of cobalt oxide to sustin the wear property.

Seal system

The present invention relates to a metallic coating to be deposited on gas turbine engine components. The metallic coating comprises up to 18 wt % cobalt, 3.0 to 18 wt % chromium, 5.0 to 15 wt % aluminum, 0.1 to 1.0 wt % yttrium, up to 0.6 wt % hafnium, up to 0.3 wt % silicon, 3.0 to 10 wt % tantalum, up to 9.0 wt % tungsten, 1.0 to 6.0 wt % rhenium, up to 10 wt % molybdenum, and the balance nickel.

Oxidation and fatigue resistant metallic coating

A method of depositing a bond coating to a surface of an article includes the steps of depositing an inner layer of the bond coating consisting of &#x3b2;-NiAl comprising Fe, Ga, Mo, B, Hf or Zr or &#x3b3;/&#x3b2;-MCrAlY comprising Fe, Ga, Mo, B, Hf or Zr or &#x3b3;/&#x3b3;'- or &#x3b3;-MCrAlY, and depositing an outer layer of the bond coating, which is more coarse the in the inner layer, consisting of &#x3b2;-NiAl comprising Fe, Ga, Mo, B, Hf or Zr or &#x3b3;/&#x3b2;-MCrAlY comprising Fe, Ga, Mo, B, Hf or Zr or &#x3b3;/&#x3b3;&#x2032;- or &#x3b3;-MCrAlY, wherein said elements Fe, Ga, Mo, B, Hf or Zr above mentioned are present individually or in combination. The coating also includes a noble metal selected from the group consisting of platinum, palladium and rhodium in the inner and outer layer or as a separate layer.

MCrAlY bond coating and method of depositing said MCrAlY bond coating

A gas turbine component consists of a superalloy base material with a single crystal structure and a protective MCrAlY-coating (). The MCrAlY-coating () has a g/g' single crystal structure, which is epitaxial with the base material. It has be determined the critical factors for the successful epitaxial and crack-free growth of the MCrAlY-coating ().

Method of growing a MCrAlY-coating and an article coated with the MCrAlY-coating

Bond or overlay MCrAIY-coating

It is a method of repairing a ceramic coating of an article after use of this article in a high temperature environment disclosed. Temperature stable protective coating over a metallic substrate surface

The invention relates to a process of repairing a MCrAlY-coating of an article, which has being exposed to the hot gases of, for example, a gas turbine. The MCrAlY-coating is examined and repaired only locally where it is needed and then, subsequently, on top of the MCrAlY-coating the article is aluminized and/or chromized, avoiding the stripping of the whole coating and re-coating over the entire surface of the article. This is for replenishing the coating of Al and/or Cr that become depleted during engine operation, in an easy, cost and time saving manner.
