A method for preventing conception in mammals wherein a composition containing (1) free LHRH or its analog and (2) an immunogenic conjugate between LHRH or its analog and a carrier protein is administered to the mammals Free LHRH or its analog acts to prevent conception in the mammal during the period from administration to about 6 weeks; the immunogenic conjugate acts to prevent conception during the period from about 6 weeks after administration until the LHRH antibodies formed in response to the conjugate are metabolized, generally about 0.5-2 years.

Method and composition for preventing conception

A method for preventing conception in mammals which includes administering to the mammals a composition containing (1) free LHRH or its analog and (2) an immunogenic conjugate between LHRH or its analog and a carrier protein. Free LHRH or its analog acts to prevent conception in the mammal during the period from administration to about 6 weeks; the immunogenic conjugate acts to prevent conception during the period from about 6 weeks after administration until the LHRH antibodies formed in response to the conjugate are metabolized, generally about 0.5-2 years.

A progesterone concentration level test for mammalian body fluids particularly adapted for milk whereby estrus and pregnancy can be determined. The test can be carried out with a kit of several reagents, test tubes and a dip-stick carrying an anti-progesterone monoclonal antibody.

Globulin test

An improved method for determining the concentration of arginase in serum. A test sample is treated stepwise with several reagents, including arginine, to produce an ornithine containing solution and the resulting sample is colorimetrically compared against a similar sample absent ornithine. From the resulting measurements an assay for arginase is computed. The improvement in this method lies principally in the elimination of a centrifugation and precipitation step and, also, in the elimination of a trichloroacetic acid reagent; thus affording an appreciably shorter assay procedure. In addition, this method utilizes less of a serum sample than is required in comparable assay procedures.
