A process and associated system for generating a hydrogen product from a feed gas stream comprising hydrogen sulfide. The process includes thermally decomposing hydrogen sulfide present in the feed gas stream into hydrogen gas and elemental sulfur in a thermal decomposition unit. The thermal decomposition unit includes a reactor vessel with a porous susceptor disposed and retained therein and a microwave generation unit positioned and configured to deliver microwave energy to the porous susceptor. Thermally decomposing hydrogen sulfide in the thermal decomposition unit includes directing microwave energy into the porous susceptor to raise the temperature of the porous, susceptor to greater than 1,000° C. and then passing the hydrogen sulfide through the porous susceptor to thermally decompose the hydrogen sulfide and generate a thermal decomposition unit effluent. The process further includes separating the thermal decomposition unit effluent into a sulfur fraction, a hydrogen rich fraction, and a hydrogen sulfide fraction.

Process and system for generating a hydrogen product from hydrogen sulfide with microwave energy

A system and method for treatment of a subterranean formation are provided. The treatment includes pumping a water shut-off material into a wellbore and to a target zone in the subterranean formation and pumping a photo-curable polymer material to the target zone behind the water shut-off material, thereby forming a layer of photo-curable polymer material between the water shut-off material and the wellbore. An energy source may be directed to the layer of photo-curable polymer material until the layer of polymer solidifies to yield a solid barrier between the water shut-off material and the wellbore.

A method of treating organic deposits in a well includes lowering a microwave heating tool into the well to a treatment zone including organic deposits, providing power to the microwave heating tool via an electrical cable, increasing a temperature of the treatment zone to an elevated temperature using heat generated from the microwave heating tool, and melting the organic deposits in the treatment zone.

A method for removing wellbore deposits includes the steps of providing a first treatment solution comprising a nitrite salt and a second treatment solution comprising sulfamic acid into the wellbore, allowing the first and second treatment solutions to mix and form a cleaning fluid, and maintaining the first and second treatment solutions in reactive connection. The first and second treatment solutions are maintained in reactive connection to initiate reaction of the sulfamic acid and the nitrite salt to generate an acidic bisulfate salt, heat, and nitrogen gas; remove organic and inorganic deposits from the wellbore; and stimulate the walls of the wellbore by dissolving minerals in the walls of the wellbore with the generated acidic bisulfate salt. Organic and inorganic deposits are removed from the wellbore by liquefying the organic deposits upon elevation of the temperature with the generated heat and breaking down the inorganic deposits with the acidic bisulfate salt.
