A two-capacitor digital-to-analog converter circuit having circuitry to compensate for an unwanted capacitance is disclosed. The converter is configured to generate an average voltage on two capacitors for a sequence of bits in a digital word so that when the final bit is reached, the average voltage corresponds to an analog level of the digital word. The converter is configured to input and average the voltage on the two capacitors using different modes to minimize the effects of capacitor mismatch and switching capacitance on the accuracy of the conversion. The converter includes a buffer amp that has an input capacitance that can affect the conversion. Accordingly, the converter further includes capacitance compensation circuitry configured to provide a replica input capacitance that can be charged and discharged according to the bits of the digital word and coupled to the input capacitor to prevent the input capacitance from affecting the conversion.

Two-capacitor digital-to-analog converter

A crystal oscillator circuit that can be controlled for fast start-up and for efficient operation is disclosed. The control includes adjusting a voltage applied to a body terminal of a transistor in order to control the amplification of the crystal oscillator. The amplification can be increased, relative to a motional resistance of the crystal oscillator, at start-up to reduce a start-up time necessary for oscillation. The amplification can also be decreased in order to maintain oscillation after start-up more efficiently. In some implementations, the transistor for control is a fully depleted silicon on insulator (FDSOI) transistor that accommodates a wide range of body bias voltages.

Circuit and method for controlling a crystal oscillator

A wireless power transmission (WPT) system. Implementations may include a power source coupled with a first wireless power transmission (WPT) system and a load coupled with a second WPT system including a sense circuit. The second WPT system, using the sense circuit, may be configured to dynamically tune a resonance of the second WPT system with the first WPT system to a desired resonance frequency value to allow transfer of a desired voltage or a desired power to the load. The desired resonance frequency value may be less than a maximum possible resonance frequency value. The first WPT system may be capable of transmitting more voltage or more power than the second WPT system or the load can receive without inducing damage to the second WPT system or the load.

Tunable/de-tunable wireless power resonator system and related methods

In one general aspect, an amplifier can include an input amplifier circuit configured to receive a bias current and receive, as an input, a signal pair connected differentially to the input amplifier circuit, the input amplifier circuit configured to output a differential output signal pair based on the received differential input signal pair, a feedback amplifier circuit configured to receive an average of the differential output signal pair and configured to provide a bias setting output for controlling the bias current, and an output buffer circuit configured to buffer the differential output signal pair, the buffering resulting in a buffered differential output signal pair capable of driving a resistive load.

Low noise differential amplifier

A programmable amplifier includes an amplifier, an input capacitor, a feedback circuit, and a high-pass filter circuit. The amplifier has an input coupled to the input capacitor for receiving an input signal. The feedback circuit includes multiple feedback capacitors of differing capacitance values that are each selectively coupled between the output of the amplifier and the input of the amplifier using multiple first switches. The high-pass filter circuit includes multiple switched capacitors of differing capacitance values that are each selectively coupled between the amplifier output and a ground node using multiple second switches. The first switches are configured to be selectively switched on for activating at least one feedback capacitor to adjust a gain of the amplifier, while the second switches are configured to be selectively switched at a first and second phase of a clock signal to adjust a high-pass cutoff frequency of the amplifier independently of how the gain is adjusted.

Programmable amplifier and method of operating the same

A clock circuit includes an amplifier, an electrical supply, a feedback circuit, and a comparator. The amplifier has an input node and an output node that are coupled to a crystal to provide an internal clock signal on the output node at a specified frequency. The electrical supply source provides electrical power to the amplifier at a specified input voltage. The feedback circuit is coupled between the input node and the output node, and forms a low pass filter for attenuating the internally generated clock signal on the input node. The feedback circuit biases the input node at a direct current (DC) voltage level that is biased to be less than the specified input voltage. When an external clock signal is applied at the output node, the comparator generates a digital clock signal according to the external clock signal, and when no external clock signal is applied at the output, the comparator generates the digital clock signal according to the internal clock signal.

Internal/external clock selection circuit and method of operation

A matchline sense circuit for detecting a rising voltage on a matchline of a CAM array is disclosed. The circuit initially precharges a matchline to ground before turning on a current source to supply current to the matchline and raise the voltage of the matchline. A reference matchline sense circuit generates a self-timed control signal to keep the current supply turned on for a predetermined duration of time. Sensed data on the matchlines are latched after the current source is turned off and the matchlines are precharged to ground. Because the matchline sense circuit of the present invention precharges the matchlines to ground instead of the supply voltage, VDD, less power is consumed. By sensing the rise of the matchline voltage to an n-channel transistor threshold potential, the matchline sensing operation speed is increased.

Matchline sense circuit and method

A matchline sense circuit for detecting a rising voltage on a matchline of a CAM array is disclosed. the circuit initially precharges a matchline to ground before turning on a current source to supply current to the matchline and raise the voltage of the matchline. A reference matchline sense circuit generates a self-timed control signal to keep the current supply turned on for a predetermined duration of time. Sensed data on the matchlines are latched after the current source is turned off and the matchlines are precharged to ground. Because the matchline sense circuit of the present invention precharges the matchlines to ground instead of the supply voltage, VDD, less power is consumed. By sensing the rise of the matchline voltage to an n-channel transistor threshold potential, the matchline sensing operation speed is increased.

A differential sensing amplifier for content addressable memory is disclosed. In the differential sensing amplifier there is a detection circuit for detecting at an input node a change in an input signal comprising, a differential amplifier having a sense node and a reference node, a means for alternating the differential amplifier between a precharge phase and a sense phase, a precharge means for providing an input signal precharge voltage to the input signal via an input device, said input device selectively coupling the sense node to the input signal upon a change in the input signal, and a reference means for providing the reference node with a reference signal that continuously tracks the input precharge voltage during the precharge phase and actively maintains the input signal precharge voltage during the sense phase. In a specifically preferred embodiment the invention provides a sensing amplifier circuit for detecting a match or mismatch search condition on a high density content addressable memory matchline that is capable of rapidly sensing the capacitive matchline, limit the matchline voltage swing sensing all matchlines simultaneously, and providing the match and mismatch result for post processing, all under relatively low dynamic power while consuming little circuit area.

Differential sensing amplifier for content addressable memory

A system and method for reduction of power consumed by a searchline buffer and control circuit during a CAM search-and-compare operation. The data buffer circuit samples one bit of a search word and a mask bit for driving a pair of complementary searchlines with the appropriate logic levels. The complementary searchlines are precharged to a mid-point voltage level between the high logic level voltage and the low logic level voltage during a precharge phase. The mid-point voltage level is applied on each searchline by sharing charge from the searchline at the high logic level voltage with the searchline at the low logic level voltage. Additional control logic compares the searchline data of the current search-and-compare operation with the next search-and-compare operation, to inhibit searchline precharging when both searchline data are at the same logic level.
