An illumination system and method for illumination of a sample in a container is described herein. In some embodiments, the container includes a defined volume for receiving the sample. The illumination system includes, in some embodiments, at least one light source, a mask comprising an opaque portion, preventing light from passing through the mask, and an at least partially transparent portion, allowing light to pass through the mask. The illumination system can be adapted to be positioned such that the light generated by the light source, passing through the mask, illuminates the sample in the container. The light source and the mask are configured such that a shape, a size, and a position of a projection of the light passing through the mask, onto a plane of a bottom surface of the container, match a shape, a size, and a position of the bottom surface.

The inventive concept relates to a collector for collecting particles in air and a device for detecting particles in air comprising said collector. Said collector comprises a substrate, which is adapted to enable imaging of the particles, an adhesive layer arranged on a collector side of the substrate, said adhesive layer being formed by an adhesive material. The collector further comprises a protection element, which is configured to protect the adhesive layer before collection of particles. The collector is configured to allow release of protection of the adhesive layer by the protection element to expose an adhesive surface of the adhesive layer to ambient air for collecting particles on the adhesive surface. The collector is further configured for presenting a particle sample carrier having a smooth top surface and a smooth bottom surface for preventing light from being diffusely scattered by the particle sample carrier.

A microfluidic routing device for routing objects of interest in a microfluidic flow includes a substrate; a first layer provided on the substrate, in which the first layer forms a bottom wall of a microfluidic channel. At least two holes through the first layer form respectively an inlet and an outlet for the microfluidic channel The microfluidic routing device further includes a second layer spaced away from the first layer, in which the second layer forms a top wall of the microfluidic channel. The second layer is configured to transmit an optical signal from the microfluidic channel. The microfluidic routing device includes an actuator for actuating the objects of interest in a sorting junction of the microfluidic channel.

A method for three-dimensional imaging of a sample () comprises: receiving () interference patterns () acquired using light-detecting elements (), wherein each interference pattern () is formed by scattered light from the sample () and non-scattered light from a light source (), wherein the interference patterns () are acquired using different angles between the sample () and the light source (); performing digital holographic reconstruction applying an iterative algorithm to change a three-dimensional scattering potential of the sample () to improve a difference between the received interference patterns () and predicted interference patterns based on the three-dimensional scattering potential; wherein the iterative algorithm reduces a sum of a data fidelity term and a non-differentiable regularization term and wherein the iterative algorithm includes a forward-backward splitting method alternating between forward gradient descent () on the data fidelity term and backward gradient descent () on the regularization term.

Lensfree method for imaging biological samples in three dimensions

The inventive concept relates to a device for detecting particles in air, said device comprising a receiver for receiving a flow of air comprising particles, a sample carrier, and a particle capturing arrangement. The particle capturing arrangement is configured to separate the particles from the flow of air for and to collect a set of particles on a surface of the sample carrier. The device further comprises a light source configured to illuminate the particles on the sample carrier, such that an interference pattern is formed by interference between light being scattered by the particles and non-scattered light from the light source. The device further comprises an image sensor configured to detect the interference pattern. The device further comprises a cleaner configured for cleaning the surface of the sample carrier for enabling re-use of the surface for collection of a subsequent set of particles.

Device and system for detecting particles in air

A holographic imaging device is disclosed. In one aspect, the holographic imaging device comprises an imaging unit comprising at least two light sources, wherein the imaging unit is configured to illuminate an object by emitting at least two light beams with the at least two light sources. A first and second light beams have different wave-vectors and wavelengths. The holographic imaging device further comprises a processing unit configured to obtain at least two holograms of the object by controlling the imaging unit to sequentially illuminate the object with respectively the first light beam and the second light beam, construct at least two 2D image slices based on the at least two holograms, wherein each 2D image slice is constructed at a determined depth within the object volume, and generate a three-dimensional image of the object based on a combination of the 2D image slices.

A device () for illuminating a particle comprises: a light waveguide () arranged on a substrate (); an output coupler () configured to output a light beam () forming a sheet-like shape having a cross-section which has an extension in a first direction being larger than a size of a particle; and a fluidic channel () arranged on the substrate () for guiding a flow of particles along a longitudinal direction of the fluidic channel (); wherein the sheet-like shape of the light beam () is arranged within the fluidic channel () and the first direction of the cross-section of the light beam () forms an angle to the longitudinal direction of the fluidic channel (). Device for illuminating a particle, and a system and a method for particle imaging

Example embodiments relate to imaging devices for in-line holographic imaging of objects. One embodiment includes an imaging device for in-line holographic imaging of an object. The imaging device includes a set of light sources configured to output light in confined illumination cones. The imaging device also includes an image sensor that includes a set of light-detecting elements. The set of light sources are configured to output light such that the confined illumination cones are arranged side-by-side and illuminate a specific part of the object. The image sensor is arranged such that the light-detecting elements detect a plurality of interference patterns. Each interference pattern is formed by diffracted light from the object originating from a single light source and undiffracted light from the same single light source. At least a subset of the set of light-detecting elements is arranged to detect light relating to not more than one interference pattern.

Imaging device for in-line holographic imaging of an object

Example embodiments relate to methods and imaging systems for holographic imaging. One embodiment includes a method for holographic imaging of an object. The method includes driving a laser using a current which is below a threshold current of the laser. The method also includes illuminating the object using illumination light output by the laser. Further, the method includes detecting an interference pattern formed by object light, having interacted with the object, and reference light of the illumination light.

Method and an imaging system for holographic imaging

A multimodal imaging system comprises a light source, an image sensor comprising a plurality of pixels, and an optical filter comprising a first filter element and a second filter element. The light source emits partially coherent polarized light, and the first filter element and second filter element are arranged as an array parallel to the image sensor. The first filter element is configured for attenuated transmission of a first light spectrum, which comprises polarized light emitted by the light source, and the second filter element is configured for transmission of a second light spectrum. The image sensor is configured to simultaneously capture light impinging on the image sensor from both the first filter element and the second filter element. Each filter element of the optical filter is configured for transmission of light to a subset of the imager pixels.

A device in holographic imaging comprises: at least two light sources, wherein each of the at least two light sources is arranged to output light of a unique wavelength; and at least one holographic optical element, wherein the at least two light sources and the at least one holographic optical element are arranged in relation to each other such that light from the at least two light sources incident on the at least one holographic optical element interacts with the at least one holographic optical element to form wavefronts of similar shape for light from the different light sources.
